HR GENERALIST ROLE SUMMARY
The HR Generalist serves as an employee advocate, business partner, and change agent, working closely with the HR Manager and Plant Management team to assess and anticipate human resources needs and deliver value-added HR services aligned with organizational goals and business objectives. This position assumes ownership of a broad range of daily HR functions at the assigned location and serves as a key resource for employees and leadership. The HR Generalist must be highly organized, innovative, resourceful, and solutions-oriented, providing support across multiple areas of human resources, including recruiting and staffing, onboarding, employment processes, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, policy development and implementation, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance. This position partners directly with the HR Manager and Plant Management team to ensure the effective delivery of HR programs and services throughout the organization.
FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Serve as a trusted HR business partner to Plant Management on employee-related matters, providing guidance and support on HR policies, practices, and employment decisions. Monitor and assist with the administration and consistent application of the Company's attendance policy. Partner with Plant Management throughout the performance management process, including coaching, documentation, corrective action, and follow-up. Support all aspects of the employment process, including recruiting, candidate screening, interviewing, selection, and completion of new-hire documentation to ensure staffing needs are met in a timely manner and qualified candidates are selected. Develop and maintain a diverse and qualified candidate pipeline through a variety of sourcing methods, including recruitment websites, employee referrals, LinkedIn, social media, and other recruiting resources. Proactively source, evaluate, and recommend qualified candidates for open positions. Partner with external recruiters, staffing agencies, and employment agencies to support recruiting and staffing needs. Maintain effective communication with staffing agencies regarding temporary employee status, hours worked, performance, onboarding, and offboarding activities. Administer and provide employee support related to leaves of absence, including FMLA, military leave, personal leave, disability leave, and other applicable leaves. Responsibilities include verifying eligibility and leave reasons, reviewing required medical certifications and documentation, monitoring accrued time off, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and preparing monthly leave reports and reconciling them with payroll records. Assist with the development, implementation, communication, and ongoing administration of personnel policies and procedures. Identify and recommend opportunities to improve HR processes, increase efficiency, contain costs, and implement automated or electronic solutions that enhance HR service delivery. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including HRIS data and personnel files, and generate reports and information from HR databases as needed. Partner with the Plant HR team to plan, coordinate, and execute employee engagement activities and events. Conduct or assist with investigations involving employee relations and personnel matters and provide appropriate guidance and recommendations to management. Respond to employee complaints and employment-related charges as appropriate. Communicate and reinforce employee expectations regarding workplace conduct, attendance, appearance, job responsibilities, work schedules, and applicable HR policies, programs, and procedures. Respond to unemployment claims in a timely and thorough manner, providing all required documentation and information. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and comply with HIPAA, applicable privacy requirements, and all other federal, state, and Company compliance standards. Prepare and maintain accurate and timely HR metrics and reports, including headcount, turnover, recruiting activity, staffing levels, absenteeism, and other key HR measures. Maintain professional and respectful relationships with coworkers, hourly employees, customers, vendors, staffing partners, and members of the community. Contribute to the efficient operation of the HR department by supporting departmental goals, objectives, processes, and systems and fostering a collaborative, service-oriented team environment. Perform other HR-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred; an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience in full-cycle recruiting, preferably supporting an hourly workforce. Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate HR information, policies, expectations, and data to employees, management, and external partners. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. Highly organized with demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, detailed, and audit-ready records. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership and make sound decisions with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and establish credibility with employees and all levels of leadership. Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Knowledge of modern human resources principles, practices, and administration. Ability to effectively apply business practices, procedures, HR technology, and systems to support personnel management and organizational objectives. Ability to support employee development, career growth, engagement, and retention initiatives. Ability to adapt to changing business needs and continuously develop skills to support evolving organizational and HR requirements. Demonstrates sound judgment, pragmatism, discretion, and a high level of integrity when making decisions. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and business information. Demonstrated ability to accept direction and coaching, respond positively to feedback, and take appropriate action to improve performance. Strong customer-service mindset with a commitment to supporting both employees and organizational leadership.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
