THE POSITION

Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist. Are you an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth? If so, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports prevention efforts across school and community settings by leading education, training, and outreach activities. It helps strengthen programs and partnerships that reduce risk factors and promote healthy decisions. As a Part-time, Seasonal Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

Program Delivery:

Implement evidence-based prevention programs and strategies in school and community settings

Community Representation:

Serve as the SCA representative on committees and collaborative groups to support prevention initiatives

Education Support:

Develop and deliver prevention education, training, and intervention services based on identified needs

Resource Preparation:

Prepare and distribute educational materials, lesson plans, and program resources for varied audiences

Documentation Management:

Maintain required documentation and timely data entry in the DDAP prevention management system

Program Evaluation:

Evaluate program effectiveness, conduct needs assessments, and modify programming as appropriate

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal, full-time employment

Start time and hours depend on school schedule. Employee works during school year, occasionally during other times, as needed. Employee may have overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training. Often irregular hours, including evenings.

Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee; or

A Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.

A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
