Job Description

Position Summary The Director of Programs & Engagement is a senior member of the Leadership New Hampshire (LNH) team responsible for developing and delivering exceptional leadership experiences and strengthening engagement across LNH's statewide network. Reporting to and working in partnership with the Executive Director, the Director of Programs & Engagement helps lead LNH's core leadership program; develops opportunities to engage and connect LNH's more than 1,100 alumni; supports recruitment and outreach; leads alumni and program-related communications; and contributes to new programs and initiatives that expand LNH's impact. The Director of Programs & Engagement works collaboratively with the Executive Director on program strategy, themes, speakers, learning objectives, and overall program direction, and takes a leading role in translating that direction into dynamic and relevant experiences. This position also works closely with LNH's Operations Specialist, who leads the logistical and administrative execution of programs, events, and organizational activities. The ideal candidate is an accomplished relationship-builder and program leader who combines curiosity, creativity, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and excellent execution. They are comfortable engaging leaders from across sectors and perspectives, managing multiple initiatives, and working collaboratively as part of a small team. Key Responsibilities Core Program Development & Delivery Work with the Executive Director to develop and deliver LNH's annual core leadership program in alignment with the organization's mission, strategic plan, and programmatic vision. Help develop and refine program-day agendas, translating learning objectives and themes into compelling sessions, conversations, and experiential learning opportunities. Research, recommend, and engage speakers, panelists, facilitators, and community partners, and prepare them for meaningful participation in LNH programs. Use participant feedback, evaluation, and observation to continually improve the program and foster a strong cohort experience built around curiosity, relationships, dialogue, and reflection. Alumni Engagement & Communications Lead implementation and continued development of LNH's alumni engagement strategy, creating meaningful opportunities for more than 1,100 alumni to connect, learn, collaborate, and contribute. Serve as staff lead for LNH's Alumni Engagement Committee and cultivate alumni programs, gatherings, regional and affinity activities, and other opportunities for involvement. Strengthen engagement through the organization's online alumni community. Develop and produce LNH's monthly alumni newsletter and manage LNH's social media presence, sharing compelling stories about LNH programs, alumni, partnerships, impact, and opportunities for engagement. Identify and develop participant and alumni stories and other content for LNH's website and digital platforms, working with the Executive Director to ensure communications reflect LNH's voice, priorities, and positioning. Recruitment & Participant Engagement Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement an annual strategy to recruit an accomplished and diverse pool of applicants from across New Hampshire. Coordinate recruitment activities, nominations, informational programs, and outreach, engaging alumni and other stakeholders as ambassadors for LNH. Help expand LNH's reach among sectors, regions, communities, and perspectives that have historically been underrepresented in the program. Build relationships with prospective applicants and help communicate LNH's value and impact throughout the recruitment and application process. Serve as staff lead for LNH's Selection Committee and support the class selection process and the transition of selected participants into the LNH experience. New Programs & Initiatives Partner with the Executive Director in exploring new programs and initiatives that respond to emerging leadership needs and opportunities across New Hampshire. Organizational Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a senior member of LNH's small staff team and a trusted thought partner to the Executive Director, contributing ideas, recommendations, and sound judgment to programmatic and organizational decisions. Work closely with the Operations Specialist to coordinate program development, participant and alumni engagement, event logistics, communications, and administrative execution. Build productive relationships with LNH's Board of Trustees, committees, alumni volunteers, partners, and other stakeholders. Participate in organizational planning and continuous improvement and help foster a culture characterized by curiosity, collaboration, inclusion, responsiveness, and excellence. Qualifications Significant professional experience in program development, alumni or member engagement, nonprofit or association management, community engagement, education, civic leadership, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high-quality programs, educational experiences, convenings, or other complex initiatives. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and people from diverse sectors, communities, backgrounds, and perspectives. Excellent writing and digital communication skills, including the ability to develop engaging content for newsletters, social media, websites, and other platforms. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to move multiple initiatives forward simultaneously and follow through on details. Excellent judgment, initiative, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team. Comfort learning and using databases, online community platforms, social media, virtual meeting tools, and other web-based technologies. Knowledge of New Hampshire's communities, institutions, issues, and civic landscape is highly valued. Commitment to LNH's mission and to engagement, collaboration, and inclusion as essential elements of effective leadership. Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout New Hampshire and attend occasional early morning, evening, overnight, and weekend programs and events.

Compensation:
$70,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience
