This position serves as a resource for employees and managers in areas including employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, training, performance management, leave administration, workers' compensation, and HR recordkeeping. The HR Generalist promotes a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployee Relations Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns. Assist managers with employee coaching, corrective actions, investigations, and performance improvement initiatives. Support conflict resolution while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Foster employee engagement and retention initiatives. Benefits and Leave Administration Assist employees with benefit enrollment and benefit-related inquiries. Administer leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, pregnancy disability leave, personal leaves, and reasonable accommodation requests. Monitor leave documentation and ensure timely communication with employees and management. Compliance and Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company employment regulations. Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, and HR compliance initiatives. Maintain required employment records and confidentiality standards. Support workplace investigations and policy enforcement. Monitor compliance with California Labor Code requirements and RCFE regulations. Training and Development Coordinate mandatory training and continuing education programs. Track completion of required annual training and certifications. Assist with leadership development and employee growth initiatives. Maintain training records and compliance documentation. Workers' Compensation and Safety Assist with workers' compensation reporting, documentation, and claim follow-up. Coordinate return-to-work and modified duty programs. Participate in workplace safety initiatives and accident investigations. Track incidents and prepare required documentation. Payroll and HRIS Support Assist with payroll processing activities and timekeeping audits. Maintain employee information within HRIS systems, such as Paycom. Ensure data accuracy and timely processing of personnel changes. Reporting and Administrative Functions Prepare HR reports and metrics related to turnover, recruitment, staffing, training, and compliance. Maintain personnel records according to company policies and applicable regulations. Support People Services projects and initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SHRM-SCP
Certification highly preferred Experience Minimum of two (3) years of Human Resources experience required. Experience in assisted living, senior living, healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality preferred. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably Paycom. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices. Understanding of leave management, employee relations, investigations, and compliance. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to travel between community locations, if required. Working Conditions Professional office environment located within an assisted living community. Frequent interaction with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Exposure to situations requiring discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality. California RCFE Requirements Must pass criminal background clearance prior to employment. Must meet all state-required health screening and TB clearance requirements. Must comply with California Department of Social Services regulations applicable to Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE).
