Job Description

Job Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist supports the administration, coordination, and delivery of the Sutton Inspection Bureau's human resources programs and processes. This role provides support across key HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, compensation and job classification, policy administration, compliance, records management, and HR systems. The Human Resources Generalist works collaboratively with leadership, employees, and independent contractors to support effective HR practices, maintain compliance, and contribute to the continued improvement of the Company's people programs and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports the development, review, and maintenance of job descriptions, compensation and incentive programs, and performance management processes. Recommends updates to personnel policies and procedures and maintains the Employee Handbook and related HR policies. Administers employee benefit programs, including enrollments, eligibility changes, employee inquiries, claims assistance, and coordination with benefit providers. Manages unemployment claims and responds to related requests for information and documentation. Responds to HR-related inquiries and prepares employment or contractor documentation as needed. Supports recruitment efforts for exempt, non-exempt, temporary, and other positions, including job postings, candidate coordination, and related recruiting activities. Maintains accurate and confidential HR records, reports, personnel documentation, and HR information systems. Coordinates the onboarding of new employees, including required documentation, system and profile setup, orientation support, and responses to new-hire questions. Coordinates the onboarding of 1099 inspectors, including required documentation, profile setup, and distribution of welcome materials. Participates in employee relations matters, including corrective action, conflict resolution, investigations, and formal meetings, and serves as a neutral Company representative or witness when appropriate. Prepares and maintains documentation related to employee and independent contractor resignations, terminations, and other separations. Reviews HR processes, reports, and outcomes in relation to established Company objectives and recommends improvements to policies, procedures, and practices. Supports Company compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and labor laws and regulations. Participates in administrative staff meetings, training sessions, webinars, and other professional development activities as requested. Interacts professionally and collaboratively with employees, leadership, independent contractors, and other Company stakeholders regarding Human Resources matters. Provides HR-related assistance, research, guidance, and administrative support to Company associates as requested. Conducts periodic audits of personnel files, records, documentation, and HR processes to support accuracy and compliance. Assists with special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned. Performs other duties and responsibilities consistent with the position as business needs require.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist or similar role. Professional certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required. Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision while advising executive leadership Experience managing complex employee relations matters, internal investigations, policy development, and compliance-related risk Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements Demonstrated judgment, discretion, and decision-making capability in sensitive and high-risk situations Ability to communicate complex HR, compliance, and organizational matters clearly to leaders and employees High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to people, performance, and organizational outcomes
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 10 lbs.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, hybrid. Specific start and end times are determined at the manager's discretion based on business needs.
Location:
Corporate Office, St Petersburg, FL Pay:
$33.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week
