Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our HR Operations team in the role of Human Resources Specialist I. We are seeking a service-oriented, detail-driven HR professional to serve as the first point of contact for IU Health's HR Service Center. In this role, you will provide frontline support to team members and leaders across the organization, handling high-volume inquiries related to HR programs, benefits, and systems. This is a fast-paced, call-center-based position ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and building foundational HR knowledge. Indianapolis, IN The Scope:
This role supports HR Service Center operations across IU Health's statewide workforce, including: Serving as the first point of contact for team members and leaders regarding HR programs, policies, and procedures Handling high-volume inbound calls and written requests (approximately 40-50 per day) Supporting benefits inquiries, enrollment processes, and leave program questions Processing and troubleshooting Oracle HR transactions and team member data updates Assisting with onboarding, compliance processes (I-9s, background checks, employment verifications), and system testing The Human Resources Specialist I acts as a key service partner, ensuring accurate, timely, and professional support for all HR inquiries. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to navigate systems and job aids in real time, and the capability to manage high-volume workloads while delivering a positive customer experience. Candidate Qualifications Candidates for this position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies. High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's Degree is preferred. Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience. Previous call center experience preferred. Previous Human Resources experience preferred. Requires experience in Microsoft programs (Word and Excel).
