Position Summary:
As a member of DPSCD's Human Resources Team, the PA I
- Professional Growth will be a key contributor to the district-wide professional growth and development strategy by leading the operations and logistical activities that support educators and administrators in accessing high-quality professional learning and sustaining their credentials. The PA I
- Professional Growth will liaise across multiple offices, divisions, and departments to develop, implement, and improve processes that ensure smooth operations of professional growth initiatives including, but not limited to district-wide professional development events, External PD processing, SCECHs administration, and PD Center operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; master's degree preferred; Experience teaching or working in a K-12 school setting; Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience managing logistics and operations for long-term and complex projects/initiatives with a variety of stakeholders; Demonstrated knowledge and experience with state level requirements for professional development including State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH); Experience in developing and publishing external and internal communication through web platforms; Demonstrated knowledge and fluency with Microsoft platforms including: SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Qualtrics, etc. Demonstrated ability to deliver professional written and verbal communication to a variety of stakeholders. Strong orientation towards excellent service. Ability to engage and present information across stakeholder groups; Knowledge of and/or experience with designing professional development for adults (preferred); Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate learning management systems (i.e. KickUp, Frontline, Blackboard/LMS 365, Schoology, etc.) (preferred); Knowledge of Talemetry and/or People Soft (preferred)
Essential Functions:
Develop, refine, manage and continuously improve systems to ensure staff can efficiently register for, document attendance, and receive incentives for participation and engagement in professional learning experiences including, but not limited to, External Professional Development, State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs), and workshop stipend payments. Retain knowledge of Michigan Department of Education (MDE) guidance for SCECH administration and implement district routines that help ensure continued compliance and timely submission of required documentation for processing of SCECHs on behalf of district staff and employees. Liaise with other divisions in the Office of Human Resources and other District offices including, but not limited to, the Curriculum and Instruction, Office of Schools, and Office of Finance to process all operations and logistics related to the district's professional growth strategy. Demonstrate and consistently deliver excellent customer service, including responsiveness, positive and proactive communication, problem-solving, and effective partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate cross-departmentally to support logistics and operations for district-wide virtual and in-person professional learning experiences. Serve as the point of contact for the DPSCD Professional Development Center and coordinate room reservations for training sessions, ensuring that facilitators have the media, room set up, and supplies needed to deliver high-quality professional learning. Develop protocols, manuals, communications, and guidance regarding professional growth initiatives, including the use of the district-based curriculum lab, for various audiences. Fulfill curriculum lab service requests from teachers and district staff in timely manner. Liaise with other DPSCD departments to support the use of District learning management platforms (i.e. KickUp, Vector, Learn365, etc.) Monitor the Professional Growth inbox and provide timely, courteous responses to internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with other Professional Growth and Talent Pipeline team members to monitor short and long-term division objectives and key results. Track relevant data and create reports related to Michigan Department of Education professional development requirements and district priorities. Create high-quality work products and services related to division initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.
