Reporting to Kelly Oaks, the associate vice president for civil rights compliance and prevention education, the Title IXcoordinator will serve as the institutional Title IX compliance officer, ensuring that Virginia Tech upholds its commitment to anenvironment free from gender-based harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct. The Title IX coordinator leads a dynamic teamresponsible for the prompt, equitable, and thoughtful response to reports of sexual misconduct, gender discrimination, and gender-basedviolence. The team-comprising a deputy Title IX coordinator, three investigators, and a case manager-partners across campus to navigatecomplex cases, support students, and ensure thorough, objective, and ethical processes. The salary range for this position is$135,000-$155,000.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
A master's degree in higher educationadministration, human resources, student affairs, public policy, government, legal studies, or a bachelor's degree in a related field andsignificant related experience. Significant experience in Title IX civil rights compliance, complaint resolution, investigation,alternative resolution, or grievance processes in a higher education setting. Working knowledge of and ability to interpret federaland state non-discrimination and anti-harassment laws, regulations, case law, and guidance, with expertise in sexual harassment andmisconduct laws. Proven track record of establishing productive working relationships and open communication with diverseconstituencies. Sound judgment, discretion, and discernment in complex, sensitive, and confidential matters. Demonstratedability to build trust and credibility across a university campus. Strong communication skills to convey the university's positionon Title IX compliance matters to internal and external constituencies. Experience developing and facilitating educational trainingfor faculty, staff, and students. Proven ability to supervise teams, foster collaboration, and manage multiple complex projectssimultaneously. Analytical skills to collect data, evaluate results, and develop strategic solutions.
PreferredQualifications:
Juris Doctor strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership abilities within a large, complex, and highlydecentralized organization. Experience leading professional staff who respond to complaints of discrimination andharassment. Completion of Title IX coordinator, or sexual violence prevention and/or response training with a nationally recognizedorganization.
