General Function:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for having general knowledge of core HR functions (i.e., recruiting/talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training) as well as HR operations and other areas of responsibility (i.e., ADA , unemployment, OSHA , etc.). Provides administrative analytical and technical support to the Human Resources Department in pursuit of
HR/ HRIS
initiatives and other
HR/ HRIS
-related responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining quality and consistency of
HR/ HRIS
database information; ensuring personnel actions are in compliance with current Human Resources policies and guidelines; providing HRIS technical support to Human Resources and other university staff; serving as liaison among Human Resources, Payroll, Budget and other end user areas. As part of the Human Resources team, this position also provides general Human Resources support.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the functions of the department (i.e., employee relations, recruiting/talent acquisition, compensation, benefit and HRIS). Supports the HRIS system for the department. Functions as Project Manager Assistant for HRIS upgrades and projects. Assist with the development, design, and maintenance of the HRIS tables, codes, and security. Maintains quality and consistency of HRIS database information specifically the HR module. Participates in the development of, and advises management on, information technology strategy and technology deployment. Establishes and maintains rank and tenure status for faculty. Troubleshoot IPEDs report. Identifies, writes, and implements Human Resources policies and guidelines as required to support various functions within the department. Identifies opportunities for improving Human Resources processes through information systems changes. Develops training curriculum and conducts formal and informal training sessions regarding various topics supported by human resources. Provides other support to Human Resources management and staff as assigned. Coordinates the resolution of related HRIS problems. Performs other duties and assignments as requested by supervision.
