HR Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish) About the
Role :
We are looking for a hands-on, bilingual HR Generalist to run day-to-day HR for our office and field teams in Brownsville. This person will be the go-to resource for onboarding, time records, employee questions, and keeping personnel files and policies in order. It's a practical, people-focused role for someone who likes structure and is comfortable working with both office staff and field crews.
Reporting:
This role reports to two leaders: our Office/Administration lead for QuickBooks, payroll, onboarding, and HR administration, and our Operations lead for workforce planning and the needs of employees in the field. Key Responsibilities Run new-hire onboarding from start to finish: offer letters, new-hire paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify, W-4s, and first-day orientation. Collect, review, and reconcile daily time records for office and field employees, and enter them accurately in QuickBooks for payroll. Answer employee questions about pay, time off, benefits, and company policies, in English and Spanish. Keep employee files organized, confidential, and up to date. Track PTO balances and requests under company policy. Coordinate drug testing under company policy, including pre-employment, reasonable-suspicion, and post-accident testing. Support hiring by posting jobs, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and running background checks. Help roll out and maintain the employee handbook and company policies. Track required postings, training records, and other compliance items. Handle offboarding tasks, including final pay coordination, equipment return, and file closeout. Escalate employee relations concerns to management and help document them. Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish (required), spoken and written. 2 or more years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR coordinator role. Working knowledge of onboarding, timekeeping, and basic employment compliance (I-9, wage and hour). Experience with QuickBooks, or with entering time and payroll in a similar system. Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to keep sensitive information confidential. Clear, respectful communication with office staff and field crews alike. Able to work onsite in Brownsville five days a week, with occasional after-hours availability. Preferred Experience in construction or another field-based industry. Work Environment This is a full-time, onsite position at our Brownsville office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with after-hours work as needed. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
