General Description:
This temporary position administers employee Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave and other leave programs. May assist with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations, and Virginia Retirement System (VRS) application processing.
Job Description:
Essential Job Functions :
Administers and ensures compliance with FMLA regulations and CCPS policies Administers school board policies related to leave of absences Serves as point of contact for eligible employees transitioning to short term and long term disability through The Standard Assists with ADA accommodations requests Assists with employee retirement programs Completes records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal and state laws, school board policies, and provider rules Performs other related duties as assigned
Budgetary Responsibility :
This position has no budgetary responsibility.
Report Preparation :
This position prepares a variety of periodic reports related to leave of absences, retirements, and workplace accommodations, as well as other related reports as requested.
Equipment Operation :
Regularly utilizes basic office equipment, such as computers, phones, and scanner
Contacts :
This position has regular contact with the Virginia Retirement System and all levels of Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) employees and retirees.
Work Direction/Supervision :
This position does not provide work direction to or supervise other positions.
Decision Making :
Independent decision-making is used when concerns or questions come up that can be solved logically in the position. The Director's approval is recommended when the concern or question is more complex.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities :
This position may provide feedback to the Director of Compensation and Benefits on benefit policies and procedures, as requested.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to find, reach with hands and arms, handle paper files, records, computer and equipment controls and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and drive. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment. The noise level is typically quiet to moderate.
Qualifications :
Considerable knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures. Considerable knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and VRS procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in a tactful and confidential manner in stressful circumstances to all levels of personnel. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of member data.
Additional Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate related field or a combination of education and extensive work experience that is comparable.
Preferred:
Professional-level and progressively responsible benefit administration or Human Resources (HR) experience in a setting of related scope and complexity to a school division or similar environment. Proficiency in Google Suite of software.
