Job Description

Jireh Asphalt & Concrete is a growing, family-owned construction company. We are hiring an experienced HR Generalist to take ownership of routine HR work, support our field and office employees, and build clear systems that help the company operate consistently. This is a hands-on role for someone who can move from recruiting and onboarding to records, benefits, leave, employee questions, and compliance without losing track of deadlines or details. You will work closely with company leadership and our current HR supervisor during the transition. You will also improve checklists, calendars, forms, and workflows so HR work does not depend on one person's memory.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
  • Coordinate recruiting, applicant communication, interviews, offers, and pre-employment steps within assigned authority.
  • Run complete onboarding and offboarding checklists, including Form I-9 workflow, policy orientation, benefit-enrollment coordination, required records, and system access requests.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for hires, terminations, pay-rate changes, position changes, and employment-status changes.
  • Maintain accurate, organized employee files and required retention records.
  • Administer employee profiles, groups, and timekeeping support in Connecteam.
  • Track attendance, paid sick leave, other leave, time-off requests, and required follow-up.
  • Coordinate health-insurance and other eligible benefit administration with employees, leadership, and providers.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation and StopClaims administration, including timely records and follow-up.
  • Track safety training and required employee credentials, and support incident-reporting documentation.
  • Respond to routine employee questions and complete employment verifications and reference requests within company policy.
  • Support field employees and supervisors with clear, respectful communication; visit work sites when needed and follow site PPE requirements.
  • Maintain an HR calendar for recurring deadlines, trainings, renewals, reviews, and filings.
  • Build practical checklists, procedures, templates, and a short weekly status dashboard.
  • Escalate employee complaints, investigations, discipline, terminations, policy exceptions, legal notices, and sensitive employee-relations matters to the appropriate company leader.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 3 years of hands-on HR Generalist, HR Administrator, or comparable experience supporting multiple parts of the employee life cycle.
  • Working knowledge of Washington employment requirements, including wage and hour, leave, personnel records, and onboarding documentation.
  • Experience coordinating recruiting, onboarding, employee changes, benefits, leave or attendance, and employee records.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee information with sound judgment and careful access controls.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, identify missing information, and escalate issues before they become larger problems.
  • Comfort supporting both field and office employees in a fast-moving work environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • HR experience in construction, transportation, manufacturing, field services, or another hourly workforce.
  • Connecteam or a similar employee, scheduling, or timekeeping platform.
  • Coordinating workers' compensation claims and safety or training records.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or comparable HR training.
  • Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.
TECHNOLOGY AND AI READINESS
You must be comfortable using cloud-based work systems and company-approved AI tools such as ChatGPT to help organize work, create checklists, improve employee communication, research routine questions, and make recurring processes more efficient. You do not need a personal paid AI account. You must verify AI-assisted work, know when a legal or policy question requires qualified review, and keep personnel, payroll, medical, identity, investigation, and other confidential information out of tools that are not approved for that data.
SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS
  • Approximately 20-30 hours per week to start.
  • Flexible weekday scheduling arranged around onboarding, payroll support, employee needs, and required deadlines.
  • In-person work at our Everett office, with occasional visits to local work sites when needed.
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-time position; no conversion date is guaranteed.
  • Washington paid sick leave is provided as required by law.
  • Employees who move into an eligible full-time position receive health, dental, vision, and paid-holiday benefits after 90 days, and vacation eligibility after one year.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with your resume. To help us identify applicants who are ready to speak, you may also text 425-530-0155 with your name, a short summary of your HR experience including any construction or field-workforce experience, one HR system or AI-assisted workflow you have used or would like to learn, your preferred weekly schedule, and your earliest start date. Do not text identification documents, employee records, medical information, payroll records, investigation details, or other confidential information.
