Emish Market is a Ukrainian grocery store located in Fife, WA, offering a wide selection of imported goods from Ukraine and other European countries. In addition to our market, we operate a full-service caf, bakery, and meat department, preparing fresh Ukrainian dishes, pastries, and specialty meats daily. Our mission is to create a warm, authentic, and memorable experience for every guest. We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team. This position will support day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, payroll support, and other HR functions across our growing organization. What You'll Do Manage day-to-day HR operations and provide support to employees and managers Coordinate the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation Assist with new hire onboarding, employment eligibility verification, and required paperwork Support employee relations and assist managers with performance issues, attendance concerns, disciplinary actions, and workplace policies Maintain and update company policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials Assist with payroll-related tasks, including timecard review, attendance tracking, and resolving payroll discrepancies Monitor employee benefits, PTO, sick leave, and other employee programs Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies Prepare HR reports, documentation, and correspondence as needed Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive HR matters Support workplace investigations and documentation when necessary Assist with employee separations, including exit documentation and final payroll coordination Partner with department managers to address staffing and employee-related needs Perform other HR duties and projects as assigned
Work Schedule:
Mon - Fri 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
PayCompensation:
$27+ per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Benefits:
We offer competitive employee benefits including paid sick leave (1 hour per 40 hours worked), partial employer-covered medical insurance (75% for full-time employees), and paid vacation: 1 week after 1 year of employment and 2 weeks after 2 years. Required Qualifications Fluent spoken Ukrainian and English - REQUIRED Minimum 2 years of professional HR experience Strong knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and employment documentation Working knowledge of federal and Washington State employment laws and HR compliance requirements Experience handling confidential and sensitive employee information Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HR/payroll systems Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus If you are an experienced HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees and managers and wants to be part of a growing Ukrainian-American business, we would love to hear from you!
