Job Description

The City of La Crosse Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for a Human Resources Intern. This is a generalist position which assists the Human Resources Department and department staff. The person in this position will support basic office duties such as answering incoming calls, assisting employees and copying, filing, scanning, faxing, etc. Additionally, this position will participate and assist with all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment processes, benefits administration, workers compensation, employee/labor relations, training and day-to-day operations. There are various office projects which will be assigned as needed during the internship which are not specifically listed. Candidates must be able to maintain confidentiality, have good communication and customer service skills, and be familiar with Microsoft Office. Applicants should be in good academic standing majoring in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration. Sophomore or Junior status is preferred when applying. Flexible scheduling is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Full-time hours are potentially available during the summer months and 15-20 hours per week during school year.

Starting wage for this position is $14.00 per hour, with potential to earn increases throughout the internship. This position does not acquire benefits.
