Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key resource for employees and management, supporting all aspects of human resources operations. This role is responsible for recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, training coordination, employee engagement, and maintaining employee records. The HR Generalist will help foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies. Why Work for N.E.W. Credit Union? Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist role. Previous experience within a credit union or financial institution is preferred. Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and employment law. Experience supporting multiple locations or branches is preferred. Experience assisting with organizational change initiatives and process improvements. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment regulations. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Strong organizational, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. High level of professionalism and confidentiality. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and staff. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, and SharePoint. Experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration systems preferred. Ability to utilize technology effectively to support HR operations and employee communication. Post and manage job advertisements across multiple recruitment platforms. Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the hiring process. Partner with hiring managers to coordinate interviews and hiring decisions. Uphold N.E.W.'s mission, vision, and core values throughout the recruitment and selection process. Plan, coordinate, and participate in career fairs, networking events, and recruiting initiatives. Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires. Follow up with managers to ensure that onboarding requirements are completed timely. Work with managers to identify training needs and recommend learning opportunities that support employee growth. Foster positive employee relations through consistent communication and support. Maintain an open door policy and serve as a resource for employee questions and concerns. Support employee engagement initiatives and help promote a positive workplace culture. Assist in resolving workplace concerns and conflicts professionally and confidentially. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in compliance with organizational and legal requirements. Administer benefits enrollment, benefit changes, and employee benefit inquiries. Process and track leave of absence requests and related documentation. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Partner with auditors and regulatory agencies as needed to ensure HR compliance. Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies and procedures. Collaborate with department leaders to communicate HR initiatives and company announcements. Assist management with workforce planning and staffing needs. Participate in HR projects, change initiatives, and process improvement efforts. Perform other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.
