Description:
At Weldall, we believe HR should lead through service. The HR Generalist is expected to demonstrate a servant leadership mindset by listening, supporting, following through, and helping employees and leaders succeed. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist provides day-to-day human resources support and serves as a trusted, approachable resource for employees, supervisors, and managers. This role has a strong focus on employee relations and requires building relationships throughout the organization through regular interaction and an active presence on the production floor. Responsibilities include employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, HRIS and employee records, training coordination, employee engagement, and general HR administration. Recruiting will represent approximately 30% of the role, with greater emphasis during periods of increased hiring activity. The successful candidate will be organized, responsive, approachable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of confidentiality; remains calm and professional when navigating sensitive or challenging situations; and is able to listen objectively and respond thoughtfully. Strong follow-through, emotional maturity, appropriate professional boundaries, and the ability to build trusted relationships are essential to success in this role. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & HR Support Serve as a visible and accessible HR resource for employees and supervisors. Respond to employee questions and concerns regarding policies, benefits, workplace expectations, and other employment matters. Assist the HR Manager with employee relations matters, investigations, corrective action, documentation, and other employee concerns. Support supervisors with routine employee relations questions and HR processes. Promote fair and consistent application of company policies and help identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, communication, and retention. Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information and exercise appropriate discretion when handling sensitive matters. Recruiting & Onboarding Manage day-to-day recruiting activities for assigned hourly and salaried positions, including job postings, sourcing, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment requirements. Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and candidate qualifications. Maintain relationships with technical schools, apprenticeship programs, workforce development organizations, staffing agencies, and other recruiting resources. Participate in job fairs, school visits, and other recruiting activities. Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, required documentation, and communication with internal departments. Follow up with new employees to support successful integration and retention. HR Administration & Benefits Maintain accurate employee information, personnel records, and HRIS data and process employee status changes. Assist employees and supervisors with HRIS, timekeeping, and general HR questions. Support benefits administration, including enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, employee questions, and recordkeeping. Assist with payroll and timekeeping processes as needed. Prepare routine HR reports and maintain required HR documentation. Training, Engagement & Company Programs Coordinate training activities and maintain employee training and certification records. Support apprenticeship, workforce development, and employee development programs. Assist with performance management and employee review processes. Assist with employee recognition, engagement activities, and company communications. Help plan and coordinate company events, celebrations, and employee functions, including event logistics and participation. Support HR projects, process improvements, compliance activities, and other HR initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 2+ years of human resources experience; manufacturing, industrial, or skilled-trades experience preferred. Experience with employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, or other core HR functions. Working knowledge of HR practices and employment regulations. Experience with HRIS (Paylocity preferred), applicant tracking, timekeeping, or similar systems. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and follow-through skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and remain professional and composed in sensitive situations. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. SHRM-CP, PHR, or interest in pursuing HR certification is a plus. Work Environment & Schedule This position works in both an office and manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with employees and supervisors throughout Weldall's operations. The HR Generalist is expected to maintain an active presence within the manufacturing areas and interact with employees across departments and shifts. The position primarily works during normal business hours; however, occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support company events, recruiting activities, or other business needs.
