Canfield Engineering & Integration LLC

Senior Technical Recruiter

Job Description

Position Summary Canfield Engineering & Integration (CEI) is an electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering and system integration firm based in Chandler, Arizona. We design and integrate the power and control systems behind water, wastewater, and industrial facilities across the Southwest. CEI is hiring a Senior Technical Recruiter to lead how we find and hire technical talent. This is a headhunter role, not an inbox role. You will bring an established network of electrical engineers, controls and system integrators, PLC programmers, and SCADA professionals across the Phoenix Valley, and you will build CEI's pipeline through direct outreach and relationships. Posted applicants are part of the job, but most of our best hires will come from people you already know or go out and find. You will also help shape and improve CEI's hiring process as the recruiting function grows. Reporting Reports to CEI leadership. Partners with group managers and technical leads in Engineering, Design, and System Integration. Key Responsibilities Direct Sourcing & Headhunting Identify, approach, and recruit passive candidates: licensed electrical engineers (P.E.), I&C engineers, electrical designers, PLC and HMI programmers, and SCADA integrators. Use your existing Valley network and referrals to fill critical roles, and maintain long-term relationships with strong candidates who are not ready to move yet. Map the local talent market across engineering firms, system integrators, utilities, contractors, and manufacturers. Run outbound campaigns through LinkedIn Recruiter, phone, email, and in-person meetings. Recruiting Outreach Represent CEI at professional association meetings and conferences, such as AZ Water, ISA, and IEEE, to meet and recruit technical talent. Build relationships with university engineering programs and technical schools for internships and early-career hiring. Grow CEI's employee referral program. Full-Cycle Recruiting Partner with hiring managers to define roles, levels, and must-have skills before a search starts. Screen and assess technical candidates, coordinate interviews and technical evaluations, and present well-qualified candidates with a clear recommendation. Manage offers, negotiations, and closing, and hand new hires off cleanly to onboarding. Coordinate with outside recruiting partners and avoid duplicate submissions. Process & Metrics Improve CEI's recruiting process and tools. Track and report pipeline, time-to-fill, source of hire, and offer acceptance. Advise leadership on market pay, hiring plans, and workforce needs. Required Qualifications 7+ years of full-cycle recruiting, with at least 4 years recruiting technical talent in engineering, AEC, system integration, utilities, construction, or industrial and manufacturing. Proven record of placing electrical engineers, controls or automation engineers, PLC/SCADA programmers, or similar technical roles. An established network of technical professionals in the Phoenix Valley. Experience leading, training, or supervising at least one recruiter or recruiting coordinator. Strong outbound sourcing skills, including LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search, cold calling, and referral development. Experience with an applicant tracking system and recruiting metrics. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, and discretion with confidential information. Phoenix-area residency and a valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Agency or executive search experience in engineering or technical placements. Experience in water and wastewater, utilities, or the controls and automation industry. Experience building a recruiting function or process at a small or growing firm. Working knowledge of engineering roles and licensure (EIT, P.E.) and controls platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Ignition. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Work Environment Based in CEI's Chandler office with hybrid flexibility. Regular local travel across the Valley for candidate meetings, campus visits, and industry events.
