PRIMARY PURPOSE
To maintain and execute effective student recruitment strategies that will assist the district to retain and recruit new students. To passionately believe in the value of a McAllen ISD education and have the ability to enthusiastically share that vision and belief with others.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates Degree or 48 College Hours, preferred
Texas driver's license, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively, bilingual preferred (verbal and written)
Public speaking skills
Utilize effective interpersonal skills; organize and coordinate various district wide services
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Computer skills
Knowledge of geographical locations and physical layout of the school district and surrounding areas
Experience:
Two (2) years' experience in public relations or customer service, preferred

Note:
Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Execute recruitment strategies targeting families with school-aged children that reside within and outside the district to attend McAllen ISD. Must be able to communicate district policies related to student registration and student transfers. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and build relationships with a diverse group of parents, students, and community stakeholders. Coordinate/attend local and surrounding events to promote/inform families and school-age children that reside within or outside the district of opportunities that McAllen ISD provides; such as, Fine Arts, Robotics, Academia, Athletics, UIL Activities, etc. Attend off-site presentations to daycares, housing authorities, community centers and other community organizations to promote the McAllen ISD. Coordinate neighborhood block walking and door-to-door presentations to promote McAllen ISD. Work with local businesses to coordinate events to promote the McAllen ISD. Assist parents in completing the on-line registration or transfer application process. Effectively promote the district by conducting cold calls. Creates, packages, monitors and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs. Arranges and attends visits and tours for prospective students and families of district campuses and facilities. Work closely with district campuses on the registration and withdrawal process to maintain student enrollment. Work collaboratively with district departments to promote events targeting families of school-aged children. Keep the Director of Student Outreach informed of daily, weekly, or monthly promotional events or other related matters pertaining to student recruitment. Work with the Student Outreach Specialist to develop and maintain data pertaining to student recruitment. Analyze trends in recruitment and retention programs; develop strategies for program evaluation. Assist District Staff to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws/policies affecting job responsibilities and duties. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards. Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
