About Us We are an IT training school in Laurel, Maryland, dedicated to helping individuals develop practical technology skills and prepare for careers in the IT industry. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly motivated, outgoing, and results-driven Student Recruitment & Business Development Manager to help us increase student enrollment and establish strong relationships with businesses, employers, community organizations, workforce-development organizations, and other referral partners. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys sales, networking, community outreach, relationship building, and helping people improve their careers. Position Summary The Student Recruitment & Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase student enrollment while building a strong network of external organizations that can refer students, provide employment opportunities, and create partnerships with the school. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and relationship builder who is comfortable making phone calls, visiting businesses and organizations, attending community events, presenting programs, following up with prospective students, and closing enrollments. This is a results-driven position with a competitive base salary and uncapped commission structure. Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Recruitment Develop and execute strategies to consistently generate new student leads. Respond promptly to prospective student inquiries. Contact prospective students by phone, email, text, and in person. Conduct consultations and explain available IT training programs. Follow up consistently with prospective students throughout the enrollment process. Convert qualified prospects into enrolled students. Conduct and/or assist with information sessions, orientations, open houses, and recruitment events. Develop student referral programs. Maintain accurate records of leads, prospects, applications, and enrollments in the school's CRM or tracking system. Identify barriers preventing prospects from enrolling and work with the appropriate team members to address them. Maintain ongoing communication with prospective students until they enroll. Business Development & Partnerships Identify and establish relationships with local businesses and organizations. Develop referral partnerships that generate qualified student leads. Visit companies, nonprofits, community organizations, workforce-development organizations, churches, schools, colleges, staffing agencies, and other potential referral sources. Establish relationships with HR managers, recruiters, business owners, community leaders, and workforce-development professionals. Identify employers that may benefit from hiring graduates or participating in internship/job-placement initiatives. Develop opportunities for employer-sponsored training and employee upskilling. Develop relationships that may lead to corporate IT training contracts. Represent the school professionally at business networking events, career fairs, community events, conferences, and other outreach activities. Maintain a pipeline of potential partners and regularly follow up with them. Track partnership activity and results. Community Outreach Build the school's presence throughout Laurel and the surrounding Maryland/DC metropolitan area. Attend community events and career fairs to promote the school's programs. Develop relationships with organizations serving job seekers, career changers, veterans, young adults, unemployed/underemployed individuals, and other potential students. Organize presentations and information sessions for community organizations and prospective students. Identify new community-based recruitment opportunities. Sales & Enrollment Manage prospects through the enrollment funnel from initial inquiry through enrollment. Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly enrollment goals. Use consultative selling techniques to understand each prospect's career goals and recommend appropriate training programs. Overcome objections professionally and ethically. Follow up with leads consistently and strategically. Maintain a strong pipeline of prospective students. Report weekly on recruitment activities, leads, appointments, applications, enrollments, and partnership development. Performance Expectations The person hired for this position will be measured primarily by results , not simply by the number of phone calls or meetings completed.
Key performance indicators may include:
Number of qualified leads generated Number of student consultations Number of applications Number of new student enrollments Enrollment conversion rate Student retention through the initial enrollment period Number of new business/community partnerships Number of students generated through partnerships Number of employer relationships established Corporate training opportunities generated Revenue generated through recruitment and business-development activities Specific monthly and quarterly targets will be established with the successful candidate. CompensationBase Salary $52,000-$55,000 per year , depending on experience and qualifications. Student Enrollment Commission The position will include an uncapped commission opportunity based on successful student enrollment.
Example commission structure:
$150-$200 per new student enrollment Additional $50 retention bonus when the student remains enrolled for 30 days Additional $50 retention bonus when the student remains enrolled for 90 days The exact commission structure will be discussed during the hiring process. Business Development Bonuses Additional bonuses may be available for generating successful business and organizational partnerships.
Examples include:
New partnership that generates its first student: $250 Partnership that generates 5 students: additional $500 Partnership that generates 10+ students: additional $1,000 New corporate training contract: potential additional performance bonus Quarterly Performance Bonuses Additional bonuses may be awarded for exceeding established enrollment and revenue targets. There is no cap on total commission and performance-based earnings. High-performing employees have the opportunity to significantly increase their total compensation through successful student recruitment and business development. QualificationsRequired 2+ years of experience in sales, recruiting, admissions, business development, community outreach, customer acquisition, or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable making outbound calls and conducting follow-up. Comfortable meeting with business owners, managers, HR professionals, and community leaders. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and manage a sales pipeline. Strong follow-up skills. Professional appearance and communication style. Ability to build trust and long-term relationships. Goal-oriented and motivated by measurable results. Proficiency with basic computer applications, email, spreadsheets, and CRM systems. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local business visits and community events. Preferred Experience recruiting students for a college, trade school, vocational school, bootcamp, or training organization. Experience in workforce development. Experience in staffing or recruiting. Experience selling educational or professional-development programs. Experience in B2B sales. Existing relationships with Maryland businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, workforce organizations, or employers. Knowledge of the IT/cybersecurity/cloud technology employment market. The ideal candidate does not need to be an IT expert. We can teach the person about our programs. We need someone who knows how to build relationships, generate opportunities, and close. What Success Looks Like During the first 90 days, the successful candidate should: Learn all school programs and admissions requirements. Learn the school's CRM and enrollment process. Build a consistent student-lead pipeline. Establish relationships with local organizations and businesses. Begin generating qualified student referrals. Attend local networking and community events. Develop a database of potential referral and employer partners. Establish measurable weekly recruitment activity. Begin producing consistent new student enrollments. Within 6-12 months, the goal is for this person to have developed a repeatable student recruitment pipeline that generates new enrollments from multiple sources rather than relying on a single advertising channel.
