About Houston-Galveston Area Council The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day. We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive. What will I be doing? The Employment Engagement Manager plays a vital role in our work with employers throughout the 13-county region. This person will be the go-to representative for the organization and the link between the business community and the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. The role also requires direct leadership of a team that focuses on different industries and aspects of our business services offering.
Some typical activities will include:
Providing direct advice and guidance to employers regarding the support that can be provided by Gulf Coast Workforce Solutions. Developing deep knowledge and understanding of these programs especially apprenticeships and other paid work experiences. Serving as lead convener for this community, planning events and meetings with leaders, from a gathering of a few people to larger scale forums. Provide close oversight of Business Services staff in the career offices, guiding this team, measuring their performance, and correcting course as necessary. Liaison with state and federal leaders, ensuring our work is aligned with their priorities. Be a daily leader, balancing requirements of employers, team members, Board of Directors, and senior leadership. Key Qualifications The Employer Engagement Manager must be an excellent relationship manager, working closely with many external stakeholders. This person is the face of the organization and must possess excellent interpersonal skills. The manager will also have the ability to develop deep knowledge about all the programs and support available to employers. Another key qualification will be leadership ability. The manager will lead a team of industry professionals as well as being a key influencer to staff members working in the career offices. The Employer Engagement Manager must also have the ability to collaborate well with other divisions and be a key contributor in cross-functional teams. Finally, the manager must possess analytical skills to understand performance metrics and then help develop mechanisms for continuous improvement. Salary Range:
$130,000.00 - $140,000.00 All employees of H-GAC are required to reside within the agency's region of service to support our commitment to excellence in service of our region.
