The Training & Retention Coordinator is a field-focused role to support the execution of onboarding, training, and employee retention strategies across our store locations. This role is critical to ensuring employees are fully prepared, leaders are accountable, and a consistent, high-performing workforce is developed and retained. This is not a desk role—success requires a strong in-store presence, hands-on coaching, and a commitment to operational excellence.
What You'll Do:
The Training & Retention Coordinator will serve as the bridge between training execution and retention outcomes across all store locations. You will be highly present in the field, working directly with new hires, Store Managers, and District Managers to ensure training is properly executed, employees are fully prepared, and early retention risks are identified and addressed. The focus will be on validating training, reinforcing expectations, and driving consistency in both performance and employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Spend 70-80% of time in stores observing, coaching, and validating training execution Engage with every new hire within their first 7 days to reinforce expectations, assess readiness, and identify early retention risks Ensure all training is demonstrated, performed, and validated—not just completed Conduct regular and unannounced training audits to verify compliance and competency Own the first 30 days of the employee experience, including onboarding quality, engagement, and performance validation Partner with Store Managers and District Managers to hold accountability for training execution, employee readiness, and retention outcomes Identify at-risk employees early and implement corrective actions to improve retention Analyze turnover trends and recommend actionable solutions to improve workforce stability Develop and maintain training materials, SOPs, and onboarding processes to ensure consistency across locations Support leadership development by identifying high performers and strengthening the internal promotion pipeline Provide consistent reporting on training compliance, retention metrics, scheduling risks, and operational gaps Assist with new store openings and remodels to ensure training and operational readiness Consistently demonstrate and uphold Home Oil's Core Values.
What We're Looking For:
3+ years of multi-unit retail, convenience store, or QSR experience Ability to travel extensively between stores. Strong background in training, onboarding, or workforce development Proven ability to lead in a field-based, high-accountability environment Willingness to spend significant time in stores, actively coaching and observing Ability to identify issues quickly and take decisive corrective action Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence at all levels Experience working in high-turnover environments and improving retention outcomes preferred Bachelor's degree preferred Why Join Home Oil? Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
