Nurse Manager II - Labor & Delivery (L&D)Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and strategic Nurse Manager II - Labor & Delivery to lead clinical care delivery, operations, and nursing staff in a dynamic Maternal-Child Health environment. Reporting to senior nursing leadership, you will oversee 24/7 unit operations, implement clinical best practices, foster cross-functional collaboration, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership:
Manage day-to-day care delivery operations in a 24/7 L&D operational environment. Oversee resource allocation, staffing workflows, unit budgets, and overall operational efficiency.
Clinical Quality & Patient Safety:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety. Ensure full unit compliance with state nursing practice acts, healthcare regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
Talent Development & Staff Engagement:
Hire, mentor, and evaluate nursing talent. Foster a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment with open communication and ongoing professional development.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Build strong collaborative relationships with attending physicians, unit staff, service line leaders, and administrative leadership to optimize care continuity and resolve patient/family concerns.
Process & Technology Improvement:
Lead quality improvement projects to streamline clinical workflows, evaluate unit performance metrics, and remediate operational or clinical bottlenecks.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Licensure & Certifications:
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) License in California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
Clinical Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of patient care delivery experience (Maternal-Child Health / L&D experience strongly preferred).
Leadership Experience:
Minimum of 4 years in a healthcare leadership or supervisory role (with or without direct reports).
Skills & Competencies:
Deep knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance, clinical risk management, payroll/budget oversight, and strategic change management.
