Job Description
Position Overview Elite Sports Complex is seeking a Lead Skating Coach to lead the Hockey Performance Lab's skating development program. This role blends hands-on high-performance coaching, athlete development planning, staff leadership, and technology-driven performance analysis. The Lead Skating Coach will oversee daily skating treadmill & shooting sessions, guide athletes through structured development programs, and integrate performance data and biomechanical insights to drive measurable results. About Elite Sports Complex Elite Sports Complex is a year-round athlete development and sports performance facility serving Duluth and the surrounding region. Our mission is to provide athletes with a professional, high-performance training environment that emphasizes measurable development, disciplined work habits, and long-term athletic growth. The Hockey Performance Lab is the high-performance training division within Elite Sports Complex. It is built around the Hockey Development Training System (HDTS) and advanced skating treadmill technology, creating an environment where athletes train with precision, receive objective feedback, and achieve measurable improvements in skating performance. We combine expert coaching, modern technology, and evidence-based methods to develop skating mechanics, efficiency, and on-ice performance at the highest levels. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Coaching Standards Supervise skating coaches & performance (strength & conditioning) coaches Maintain consistent coaching standards and training methodology across sessions Assist with onboarding, training and development of coaching staff Help design long-term development progressions and specialty programs Collaborate with performance coaches to integrate skating mechanics with off-ice strength and conditioning Athlete & Parent Communication Meet with athletes and parents to review development progress and goals Provide clear, honest feedback using data and observation to guide training Serve as a trusted and professional representative of the Hockey Performance Lab and Elite Sports Complex. Program Growth & Athlete Experience Support athlete onboarding & consultations Communicate the benefits of HDTS training systems and skating analysis Build long-term relationships with athletes and families to encourage retention and development Contribute to planning and execution of camps, clinics and development programs Athlete Development & High-Performance Training Lead daily training sessions utilizing HDTS and AI-enhanced skating technology Apply evidence-based coaching practices and performance metrics to optimize athlete development Develop individualized training plans based on athlete needs, skating mechanics, and development stage Track progress using objective metrics and communicate measurable improvements to athletes and families Deliver structured, challenging, and safe sessions aligned with elite training standards Reinforce advanced skating mechanics, efficiency, acceleration, and power development Facility & Training Environment Maintain skating treadmill areas and ensure equipment is functioning properly Support the use and care of performance technology and training systems Maintain a clean, organized, and professional training environment Coordinate with Elite Sports Complex leadership to ensure high standards across the training division Education & Background Bachelor's degree or higher required , preferably in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Sport Science, Biomechanics, Athletic Training, Human Performance, Sports Medicine, or related fields Master's degree and/or certifications such as
NSCA CSCS, NASM PES, USA
Hockey Coaching Certification, or other relevant credentials are preferred Qualifications Strong background in hockey skating mechanics, skill development, or performance coaching Experience coaching youth, high school, junior, or collegiate athletes Ability to coach skating mechanics using structured, repeatable, evidence-based methods Excellent communication skills with athletes, parents, and staff Comfort working with performance technology, data tracking, scheduling software and modern training systems Professional, motivated, and committed to high-performance athlete developmentPay:
