Full Time Job Summary:
Responsible for providing follow up training and mentoring of direct care staff. Provide assistance and reinforce training standards in behavior management, therapeutic relationships with clients, and appropriate boundaries. Responsible for evaluating new staff competency and assisting in staff performance evaluations. As assigned may be responsible for scheduling, facilitating and conducting training sessions, and administrative needs of the Training Department. Must maintain a level of high morals and represent self as a role model for direct care staff.
Requirements :
Must be currently in the state of AK -Local area, any out of state candidates will not be accepted. H.S. Diploma or Equivalent. 21 years of age. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be able to provide a 3-5 year driving record with a clear driving history. Must pass a thorough a federal background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check department. 1 year working in the behavioral health, mental health, or human services field required. Interpersonal and leadership skills adequate to work effectively as part of the training team. Personal characteristics suitable to provide a positive role model for children and adolescents. Ability to complete all required paperwork in a neat, grammatically correct fashion and in a timely manner. Knowledge of, or ability to learn word processing computer skills. Must have the ability to employ Verbal and Physical aggression control techniques after being certified. (Ability to Physically Restrain adolescent clients). This may require you to lift 40 lbs., bend your knees, extend arms and shoulders and other physical movements necessary to safely restrain a client. Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary, including evenings or weekends. Ability to become certified to train CPR and 1st Aid.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and direction for new direct care employees. Provide technical assistance to direct care staff as needed. Provide updates and reports on Individual and agency staff development needs Become certified and/or re-certified in FCSA Behavior Management Program (Verbal and Physical de-escalation), CPR and First Aid. Conduct training classes to include, but not limited to, FCSA Behavior Management Program, CPR, First Aid, and other training sessions as scheduled. Provide mentoring to and observation of each new employee hired to provide direct care service. Assess and document the strengths and weaknesses of each employee providing direct care services and report the information to the Training Director along with suggestions for training needs and/or the prospects of their ability to ever be capable to master the responsibilities of the job duties. Function as an advisor to direct care staff in order to improve their work performance and environment and obtain information to be used improve employee orientation, training and observation. As needed assist with scheduling, coordination of presenters and provision. Work with the Training Director and Chief Human Resource Officer to develop Agency-wide Mentoring Program and new staff training and orientation needs. Assist with monitoring and administrative functions of Agency-wide Mentoring Program, to include but not limited to: record keeping and scheduling employee mentoring, observation and training. Responsible for maintenance of the Training Center, including technical equipment, according to Agency policies and procedures. Continue professional growth through continuing training on areas applicable to the job duties of the position. Work at various FCSA facilities as assigned. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
