Our Adaptive Skills Program supports children, teens, and adults with autism, ADHD, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and other developmental differences in building practical skills they can use in everyday life. This is a hands-on skill-building position. Instructors work directly with participants individually and in small groups to practice skills that support greater independence, confidence, communication, organization, and participation at home and in the community. No two sessions will look exactly the same! Depending on the participant and their individual goals, you might spend a session practicing how to make a simple meal, creating a morning routine, organizing a backpack or workspace, making a shopping list and practicing budgeting, navigating a community setting, practicing communication and self-advocacy, or exploring sensory tools and movement activities that help the participant understand what works best for them.

Daily living and independence skills Executive functioning and organization Planning, routines, and time management Cooking and basic meal preparation Money management and shopping skills Personal care and household responsibilities Communication and self-advocacy Social and community participation Community and personal safety Problem-solving and decision-making Understanding individual sensory preferences and needs Exploring movement and sensory activities Identifying tools and strategies that support successful participation in everyday activities What You'll Do As an Adaptive Skills Instructor, you'll: Lead engaging 1:1 and small-group skill-building sessions Help participants practice individualized adaptive and everyday-life skills Break larger skills into manageable, achievable steps Use demonstrations, visual supports, hands-on practice, repetition, choices, and real-world activities to support learning Adapt activities to different learning styles, communication needs, interests, and abilities Encourage independence while providing the level of support each participant needs Support participants in communicating their preferences, needs, and choices Help participants practice skills in natural and community settings when appropriate Track participation and progress toward individualized goals Complete required session notes and documentation Collaborate with the Mosaic Minds team to make activities engaging, practical, and meaningful Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, organized, and sensory-friendly environment Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with neurodivergent individuals and understands that people learn and communicate in different ways. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, flexible, reliable, and comfortable thinking outside the box. We want someone who can turn everyday activities into opportunities for learning without making the experience feel clinical. Required Qualifications Completed bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, social work, counseling, human development, rehabilitation, nursing, behavioral sciences, or another related human-services field At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities Experience working directly with children, teens, and/or adults who need additional support with everyday skills Strong communication and documentation skills Reliable and able to maintain a consistent weekly schedule Availability on at least one weekday AND one weekend day each week Ability to work in person at our North Natomas location Experience supporting autistic individuals, ADHDers, individuals with intellectual disabilities, AAC users, or individuals with varying communication and sensory needs is highly valued.
