$16.90 per hour to start The Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia Yorba Linda is hiring immediately to serve in the areas of Yorba Linda and Brea. The Youth Development Professional is responsible for the day to day program and activities at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia-Yorba Linda branches in which they are located, these roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Position Description:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia-Yorba Linda is a dynamic, innovative, youth-serving organization that is committed to helping all children build positive, lifelong memories, achieve their greatest potential, and inspire future generations. Youth development professionals (staff) primary responsibility is to ensure every child has a safe, first-class after school experience. This is done by acting as a positive, engaging adult role model, coach, and mentor. Professionals must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they inspire, encourage, and impact. Professionals work directly with a group of approximately 15-20 students. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Key Roles & Responsibilities Driving

• Promote safety with ongoing pick-up/drop off Club members in agency vehicles.
• Serve as Boys & Girls Club liaison and representative when interfacing with the public, school representatives, parents, youth and community stakeholders.
• Orient Club members to the proper safety and cleanliness rules of vehicle when in transit, when arriving for pick-up, and while parked (Do not play on or around).
• Wash, Gas, or perform additional inspections of the Clubs Youth Van fleet as necessary, making sure all vans are clean and ready to transport daily.
• Keep and maintain service records, gasoline purchase receipts, and attendance transportation log.
• When needed, pick up and deliver program supplies, equipment, and donated items to the requested destination point.

1. Commitment to Safety Contribute to the environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures. Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, peers, and leadership. Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training. Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices. 2. Support Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia-Yorba Linda mission, "To enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens." 3. Work as a tutor/mentor in an After-School Enrichment Program providing homework assistance, academic enrichment and fitness using curriculum and materials provided by Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia-Yorba Linda. 4. Serve as a positive adult role model for children in the program through reliability, punctuality, appropriate dress, speech, and attitude. 5. Demonstrate program leadership skills through group expectations management and effective practices. 6. Approach behavior as communication by practicing positive reinforcement and implementing strategies that help members identify and correct challenging behaviors. 7. Plan, organize, and prioritize programmatic deliverables including safety practices, curriculum, and individualized member engagement. 8. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers in a way that enhances safety, fosters, transparency, and invites opportunities for learning and growth. 9. Develop program delivery skills in a way that fosters engagement and learning while building upon the mentor-mentee relationship. 11. Participate in staff development and training activities when needed after hours or on weekends. Job Skills & Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Have a drive to work with a diverse group of students from different socio-economical backgrounds and levels of educational preparedness. Physical Requirements:

Work can be routine at times, but new activities and challenges mark each day. Youth development can be physically and emotionally taxing, as workers constantly stand, walk, bend, and stoop to attend to each member's interests and problems. The employee must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
