We are seeking a Spray Foam Technical Trainer & Service Specialist . You will serve as our resident expert on plural-component equipment performance and spray foam application. This dual-focused role requires you to perform hands-on equipment repairs (both in our main shop and out on active job sites) while leading comprehensive training programs. You will teach new and experienced applicators how to spray efficiently, operate complex mobile rigs, and apply building science principles to ensure high-quality construction. This role requires approximately 60% travel to regional job sites. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair (Shop & Field) Execute shop overhauls to rebuild high-pressure proportioners, fluid sections, transfer pumps, and spray guns during scheduled maintenance windows. Perform emergency field repairs on active job sites to quickly resolve mechanical or electrical failures and minimize crew downtime. Troubleshoot mobile rigs completely, including diesel generators, rotary screw air compressors, desiccant air dryers, and heated hose assemblies. Diagnose technical phone calls from field crews experiencing live pressure imbalances, heating issues, or crossover contamination. Applicator & Equipment Operation Training Train on rig operations to ensure applicators can safely manage startup, shutdown, pressure balancing, and emergency flush procedures. Teach spray techniques to help applicators master distance, gun angle, speed, and pattern control for consistent foam thickness. Instruct chemical management regarding safety data sheets (SDS), 1:1 mixing ratios, ambient/substrate temperature limits, and raw material storage. Enforce safety protocols including proper job site containment, fresh-air breathing systems, ventilation setups, and PPE compliance. Building Science Integration Teach building science fundamentals focusing on thermal boundaries, vapor retarders, air barriers, and dew point dynamics. Educate on substrate preparation by training crews to check moisture levels, adhesion variables, and thermal bridging factors. Assess finished foam quality by teaching applicators how to inspect core temperatures, density, and cell structure.

Job Requirements Experience:

3-5+ years of hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing spray foam mobile rigs.

Mechanical Skill:

Proven ability to diagnose and repair high-pressure fluid systems in both a shop environment and field conditions.

Equipment Knowledge:

Deep technical familiarity with major industry equipment (e.g., Graco, PMC, Carlisle) and various spray gun designs.

Building Knowledge:

Strong understanding of construction envelope design, residential/commercial building codes, and insulation science.

Communication:

Clear, patient teaching style with the ability to explain complex mechanical and scientific concepts to beginners.

Travel:

Willingness to travel 60% of the time to regional job sites for field training and emergency repair dispatch.

Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
