What You'll Do:

As a Training Specialist, you will coordinate, develop, and deliver technical training that supports underwriting employees across Commercial, Personal Lines, and Agricultural Underwriting. This position will primarily focus on Commercial Underwriting training while also partnering with and supporting other underwriting trainers as business and learner needs arise.

Other duties include:
  • Coordinate and conduct all phases of PC underwriting curriculum development and training functions.
  • Lead newly hired staff through the training curriculum through regularly scheduled meetings and by answering questions. Regularly communicate progress with Business Unit leaders.
  • Identify needed updates to course curriculum and online training modules and revise, as required, by partnering with Instructional Designers.
  • Design and develop training programs as assigned, including curriculum, online courses, resource materials, etc., as identified by the annual training portfolio.
  • Review and evaluate training feedback, assessments, and participation. Implement changes based on the results.

Participate in cross-functional workgroups to identify specific areas where training is needed and develop training programs to help ensure compliance with Underwriting Best Practices, as well as various federal and state laws and regulations. Explore and evaluate emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in the training and development field. Collaborate with team members to share insights and drive the implementation of innovative learning solutions.

Provide training and assist with the development and mentoring of team members. Foster collaborative culture between team members.

Regularly analyze the success of training by reviewing and analyzing Quality Assurance results. What It Takes to

Join Our Team:

College degree or equivalent plus at least seven years of relevant experience required. Three years of claims or underwriting training experience preferred.

Advanced degree or Industry Designations preferred.

Must have excellent presentation and strong time management skills.

Must have strong knowledge of ISO contract and/or FBMC contract and be committed to continuing education.

A valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required (Some travel including overnight stays may be required).

Ability to work in-person at our West Des Moines, Iowa office.
