Job Description

Twin Falls Club-Teen Program Youth Development Professional Hours:
Monday-Friday from about 2:30pm to 6:30pm and on Thursdays from 2:30pm till about 8:30pm
POSITION SUMMARY
The Teen Program Youth Development Professional (YDP) will provide programming and services on a daily basis to youth enrolled in programs, understand and implement the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley, be knowledgeable in the "5 Core Areas" of programming (character & leadership development, education & career development, the arts, health & life skills, and sports, fitness & recreation), provide support to the Program Director, volunteers, and other staff members, and be able to build positive relationships with youth and parents. Most work is conducted in a Club setting, both indoors and outdoors. Teen Program Youth Development Professionals will work directly with teens/tweens ages 13-18. They will be responsible for the club experience and safety of members enrolled into the Teen Program, that includes Activ8, Elev8, and Teen Nights.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Knowledge:
Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to youth development; ability to plan effectively; group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics and discipline; an understanding of the population of youth served by Boys & Girls Club. Be able to work directly with Teens/Tween as a mentor.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Some experience in working with diverse ages and groups of youth preferred.

Communication Will accurately understand all forms of communication from others, including listening. Will provide others with necessary, correct, and timely information and feedback when requested. Decision-Making Will identify causes of problems, select an appropriate course of action to deal with issues, and will implement the most appropriate course of action to resolve issues. Will gather relative and important information regarding issues and problems. Will seek new techniques and approaches in dealing with problems. Leadership Will serve as a role model for co-workers and youth in the programs. Demonstrates responsible, ethical, and professional behavior. Will enhance and encourage the building up of co-workers and strive to meet goals and objectives of the organization. Personal Initiative Will work to achieve higher levels of training and responsibility to better serve the youth in programs. Will take initiative to achieve goals and will act on problems before they arise. Will contribute to a positive work environment and strive to maintain personal wellness. Planning/Organizing Will organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks and goals in a timely and efficient manner. Will build up knowledge needed in the planning and implementation of program activities for youth. Safety, Health and Environment Will support a safe environment both emotionally and physically. Will act to insure that safety and all licensing or facility policies and requirements are understood and met.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Other Requirements:
Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must be knowledgeable in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Have a valid Idaho driver's license (or in process of obtaining one). Meet the eligibility of insurance company regulations for operating club vehicle(s). Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Club can arrange for this). Obtain valid Food Handler's permit-as required (the Boys & Girls Club will arrange for this). Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet. Be able to maintain high level of energy. Be able to lift at least 20 lbs. Be adaptable and flexible to change. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Be knowledgeable about current teen/tween trends. Fulfil leadership responsibilities in Teen Directors absence.
