Job Description
State of Massachusetts Training Technician II Westborough, MA Apply The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a Training Technician II. As a member of the Learning and Development Team, the Training Technician will be addressing the training needs of DMH staff throughout assigned areas (Western Mass Area & Central Office [Statewide]). Duties will include coordinating and delivering training programs including both New Employee Orientation curricula and curricula designed to meet the ongoing professional development needs of DMH. The Technician will provide on-the-job training to staff and also maintain training records using a Learning Management System (LMS). This position requires a work schedule that meets the training needs of off shift (2ndand 3rdshift) and weekend staff as needed.
Please note:
_ Travel to other DMH offices and facilities is required for this position. Candidate will need access to reliable transportation.- Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Presents training effectively on designated topics. Delivers training content in a consistent format according to the prescribed curriculum. Reinforces the Agency's mission, vision and values during presentations.
- Fulfills all training logistical requirements to ensure the delivery of high-quality professional trainings. Some of the requirements include managing registration, room prep and clean up, creating handouts, arranging for refreshments and reviewing participant evaluations.
- Uses the Learning Management System (LMS) to track staff training participation and compliance with mandatory trainings so that accurate information is available supervisors and managers in their efforts to maintain staff professional standards.
- Assists staff in the use of the LMS and the Learning Calendar to register for trainings and/or monitor their professional development activities.
- Assists with quality assurance activities such as collecting and reviewing training data to improve training effectiveness.
- As a member of the Learning and Development team, collaborates with the other team members to design and implement an annual area training needs assessment.
- Assists in the development of the area training plan based on assessed needs. Confers with the Learning and Development managementstaff tounderstand training requirements, availability of resources, and criteria for evaluation.
- Assists in the marketing and communication regarding Learning and Development activities. This may include responding to inquiries from agency staff and drafting and delivery of training announcements.
- Provide excellent customer service such as assisting DMH staff to navigate and use the Learning Management System or the DMH Learning Calendar.
- Participates in state-wide Learning and Development projects as assigned.
- Attends trainings, meetings and conferences, and other planning forums as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the assigned location/programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and or experience with group meeting facilitation or delivering a presentation to an audience.
- Competence with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to foster a positive work environment, establish and maintain effective and productive professional relationships.
- Willingness to work intermittent flexible hours which may include nights/evenings and/or weekends.
- Willingness to work at all facilities/sites in the assigned Area.
- Reliable transportation to travel to facilities and sites statewide.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to teach physical competency skills which may require: squatting /kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying objects up to 25lbs.
- Ability to move training equipment (A/V equipment, CPR manikins, tables, chairs, etc.)

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, instructing or training work which included the planning, development or implementation of educational or employee training programs as a major duty, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.Substitutions:
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience- II. A Graduate degree with a major in education may be substituted for the required experience.
- Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines.
