Job Description

Location:
HQ USSOCOM, MacDill AFB, FL The Challenge:
USSOCOM requires senior readiness expertise to plan, execute, observe, and assess joint and multinational training events that strengthen SOF battle staff proficiency and mission readiness. Challenging Projects:
As a Joint Operations Readiness SME with JCTM you will advise and mentor CCMD and TSOC battle staff in the design, execution, and assessment of full-spectrum SOF training and readiness events. This position requires expert knowledge of the Joint Training System, CJCSM 3500.03-series processes, warfighting functions, SOF core activities, LVC event planning, readiness assessments, JMETL, UJTL, JTT, DRRS, and Joint
SOF HQ C2
functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Joint Readiness Advisory Support:
Advise commanders, senior leaders, and battle staff on readiness objectives, exercise design, training event execution, and post-event improvement.
Exercise Planning and Execution:
Plan and support full-spectrum joint exercises using JTS and CJCSM 3500.03-series methodology.
Scenario and Event Design:
Ensure SOF mission sets are fully represented in exercise objectives, events, injects, assessments, and readiness products.
Senior Leader Integration:
Brief and advise O-5 through GO/FO decision-makers on training readiness, operational risk, readiness maturity, and staff performance.
Readiness Assessment:
Apply UJTL, JMETL, Joint doctrine, JTS, JTT, and DRRS to develop AARs, readiness assessments, training improvement plans, and readiness recommendations.
SOF-CF Integration:
Synchronize training across TSOCs, SOF Components, CCMD staff, Services, Interagency partners, multinational partners, and USSOCOM stakeholders.
Operational Design and Crisis Response:
Apply working knowledge of operational design and SOF crisis response operations to improve scenario realism and staff decision-making.
Real-Time Observation:
Observe execution, capture functional alignment, identify friction points, and provide corrective recommendations without assuming staff execution roles.
Readiness Governance:
Guide development of readiness metrics, planning logic, synchronization behaviors, assessment processes, and staff-development pathways.
State-of-the-Art Technology:
Expand your expertise by working with joint training systems, readiness reporting platforms, LVC tools, operational design methods, and advanced planning processes in a strategic SOF readiness environment.

Active
TOP SECRET
Security Clearance with SCI eligibility Bachelor's degree. 12+ years of SOF experience. Former E-8+, CW3+, or O-4+ experience. 5+ years of experience planning and executing joint exercises using the Joint Training System. Operational application of warfighting functions and SOF core activities in a Joint SOF HQ environment. Experience managing full-spectrum training events in accordance with CJCSM 3500.03-series methodology. 4+ years of Joint operations or operational-strategic SOF planning experience. Experience ensuring SOF mission sets are fully represented in exercise objectives, events, and assessments. Experience directly briefing or advising O-5 through GO/FO leaders. Experience synchronizing training across TSOCs, SOF Components, CCMD staff, Services, and Interagency partners. Experience applying UJTL, JMETL, Joint doctrine, JTS, JTT, and DRRS. Experience developing AARs, readiness assessments, and training improvement plans. Recent strategic HQ experience within the last 8 years at USSOCOM, TSOC, Service HQ, Joint Staff, OSW, or a 3-4 Star HQ in a command billet, senior enlisted advisor position, or primary staff planner role. Haves:
Experience as a J7 or J37 Joint Training Planner, J3 or J35 Plans/Future Operations Planner, TSOC J3/J7 training and exercise staff member, SOCOM J7 staff member, Service SOF Component HQ planner, Joint Staff or CCMD exercise planner, readiness lead, assessments lead, or AAR lead. Experience as a Joint Exercise Planner, Senior Training NCO, Operations Planner, Future Operations Planner, SOF Campaign Planner, Contingency Planner, or EXCON Lead. Experience serving as a Battalion, Squadron, or Group S3/Ops Chief; Command Senior Enlisted Leader; SEA; SMU/NMF senior leader; or Task Force Plans/Training Lead. Experience producing senior leader decision products, readiness dashboards, training progression milestones, and governance-aligned readiness recommendations.
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
