Job Description
Safety & Training Specialist Karst Stage
- Bozeman, MT About Karst Stage Serving Montana Since 1902 — Karst Stage provides dependable airport shuttle service to Big Sky and West Yellowstone, luxury group charters, wedding transportation, and professionally guided tours throughout Montana and Yellowstone.
Position Overview:
Karst Stage is seeking a Safety & Training Specialist to lead the company's safety, compliance, and training initiatives. This position will help foster a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and industry standards. The Specialist will collaborate with leadership and employees to proactively identify risks, improve training, and promote safe and effective operations.Key Responsibilities:
Compliance- Leads the Company's regulatory compliance programs, policies, procedures, and reporting to ensure Karst Stage meets or exceeds applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Leads initiatives that promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture by identifying risks, preventing incidents, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.
- Communicates and implements training programs that promote employee safety, develop skills, and support professional development across Karst Stage.
Qualifications:
Strong work ethic with a positive attitude. Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience in the transportation and/or logistics fields, specifically in management of a commercial motor fleet preferred. Experience conducting or supporting safety investigations, incident reviews, audits, or regulatory compliance activities preferred. Licensed CDL or the ability to obtain one within 6 months is preferred. Professional driving experience is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Skills/Abilities/Characteristics Communication Skills- Comfortable making formal and informal presentations and able to effectively communicate and lead through challenging situations. Time Management
- Able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to emergencies and time-sensitive situations. Regulatory Knowledge
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local motor carrier and safety regulations. Analytical Skills
- Able to identify safety trends, evaluate risks, interpret data, and recommend effective corrective or preventive actions. Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning and using compliance, safety, and training systems.

Work Environment The position requires a combination of office and field work. The Specialist will spend time riding scheduled runs and monitoring bus operations and drivers in the field, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
