Job Description
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM) is currently seeking energetic, organized, and compassionate individuals who are interested in serving as Youth Development Professionals at our sites in Asbury Park. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: creating and maintaining a safe physical and emotional environment, direct supervision of children during all program hours and the planning and implementation of our core program areas - Arts & Technology; Career Development; Health and Wellness; Sports & Recreation; and Character & Leadership. All job responsibilities will be in accordance with guidelines enforced by the office of licensing and recommendations of the CDC. Salary is $16-$19/hour. Applicants with a clean driving record who are available to assist in transportation can receive additional compensation.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Serve as an ambassador for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County Energetic and positive "can-do" attitude Maturity and patience when working with children Experience working in youth development, recreational leadership, or similar Can work as a part of a team Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds Ability to supervise groups of children in recreational settings, both indoors and outdoors Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Proficient in the use of technologyRESPONSIBILITIES
Promote a physically and emotionally safe environment for youth Provide guidance and role modeling to our members Stimulate members' interests and positive participation in activities Implement and actively supervise educational and recreational programs, services, and activities Assist with creating and planning Club programs and activities Recognize and respond quickly to unacceptable behavior - arguing, fighting etc. - using positive discipline and other techniques as outlined in training Complete accident or incident reports when appropriate according to BGCM procedures Be prompt, courteous, and neat during working hours, according to dress code or outlined in the employee handbook Maintain an inventory of all program equipment and supplies Recommend supplies needed for assigned area Complete daily reports on department activities and attendance Work with staff on special events and facilitate programs in any department when needed Complete any required or mandated trainings and/or professional development Engage parents regarding opportunities and expectations of Club members, as well as general Club participation Adhere to all Child Care Licensing requirements and policies/procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and elsewhere Other duties as assignedSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
