Job Description:
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Development and Grants Specialist will be responsible for contributing to the success of the Grants Services department and the Foundation Development team. This position engages in fundraising efforts, alumni and donor relations, and planning and managing events. This position assesses, researches, and provides support for grant functions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Volume-based fundraising efforts (basket raffles, donations, annual/regular giving efforts) Assist with alumni, community, and employee giving programs to build affinity and capacity toward major and planned gifts Assist with Alumni Affairs projects and events: Alumni career connections profiles Alumni Hall of Fame nominations and committee review Alumni commencement survey Website management Assist with Donor Relations Follow up to donor inquiries pertaining to scholarships, programs, etc. Track donor activities via Blackbaud Raiser's Edge Provide annual report of donor account activities and balances Maintain donor records Assist with event planning and logistics for Encore, Cougar Classic, Alumni Hall of Fame, Humphrey Symposium, Annual board dinner meeting, and other events as assigned Assist with the management of volunteer committees for aforementioned events and programs, such as the Alumni Council and others Collaborating with internal GCC-based grant partners to assess viability of grant pursuit Support the creation and implementation of Development and Grants POA goals. Assist with pre-award activities to reduce volume of non-viable or non-aligned opportunities, and provide preliminary action prior to Director involvement: Researching for grants and possible new RFPs Writing narrative components of grant and funding solicitations Gathering research data and necessary analysis for application completion Collect documents, signatures, and materials Providing details for administrative support Discussing budgets with campus champions Ensure opportunities align with campus strategic plans Assist with post-award activities to streamline grant compliance and procedures: Ensure grant regulatory, budgetary, and programmatic compliance Assist with gathering data for projects and reports Provide writing support for grant report narratives and budget documents Confirm grant year-end and close-out procedures and assist with completion Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree or an associate's degree with three years' experience in development, grant work, event planning, higher education, non-profit, marketing, or other related fields. Must have good computing skills including spreadsheet development and word processing.
Preferred:
Experience supporting grant work for federal, state and foundation funding is preferred. Experience in higher education is preferred.
Special Skills or Requirements:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to work well with others and to direct the efforts of others toward a mutual goal will be necessary. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines are expected. The ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet multiple deadlines is expected, as is the ability to solve problems and to deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to support editing, proof reading, research, and assisting with budget development is expected. Ability to promote funding opportunities and development on campus and collaboration with affiliated partners. The successful candidate must be able to foster an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Additional Information:
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. Position is compensated at $43,868.98. Salary, benefits and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract. The ability to occasionally travel is required. The ability to work occasional nights and weekends is required.
