This role is responsible for providing one-on-one employee training of every trade position in the organization. Ensuring employees are trained, qualified, and competent in performing all work in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Technical Trainer will work solo and partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and Human Resources to build a culture of operational excellence, continuous learning, and regulatory compliance. This position is instrumental in maintaining workforce competency for Military, AS9100, NADCAP, OEM customer requirements, and internal quality systems. Key Responsibilities Training Program Development Develop, implement, and continuously improve technical training programs for all production personnel. Provide daily on the job training, instruction, implementation and exams. Create and maintain training curricula, lesson plans, presentations, videos, practical exercises, and competency assessments. Develop structured onboarding programs for new employees. Design cross-training and employee certification programs to increase workforce flexibility. Technical Training Provide on the job floor training, classroom and hands-on instruction for: Surface preparation Cleaning and chemical processing operations Anodizing Chemical conversion coating Passivation Etching Paint preparation and masking Aerospace primer and topcoat application Equipment operation Process control Inspection techniques Safe chemical handling Personal protective equipment (PPE) Environmental compliance procedures Preventive Maintenance Tank upkeep and Maintenance Any other area that needs training to occur SOP & Work Instruction Management Train employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), process specifications, and customer requirements. Ensure employees understand the purpose behind procedures and can consistently perform tasks to specification. Coordinate retraining whenever procedures, equipment, specifications, or customer requirements change. Work with department managers to update training materials following engineering or quality changes. Employee Qualification & Certification Evaluate employee competency through written tests, practical demonstrations, and observation. Maintain operator qualification and certification records. Manage the company's skills matrix and training database. Recommend employees for qualification or requalification. Compliance & Quality Support compliance with: AS9100 Quality Management System NADCAP Special Process Requirements FAA requirements Customer specifications OSHA regulations EPA and environmental regulations Internal Quality Management System procedures Participate in: Internal audits Customer audits NADCAP audits FAA audits Corrective action implementation Continuous Improvement Identify skill gaps and training opportunities. Analyze production quality trends to determine training needs. Collaborate with Quality and Operations to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield. Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Documentation Maintain complete employee training records. Ensure all training documentation meets audit requirements. Track training completion, certifications, and annual refresher requirements. Prepare reports on training effectiveness and workforce competency. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Education, or a related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace chemical processing, metal finishing, aerospace painting, or a related manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years of technical training, supervisory, lead, or mentoring experience. Strong knowledge of aerospace chemical processing and coating operations. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic training management systems.
