Job Description
Youth Development Leader Position Description TITLE:
Youth Development LeaderREPORTS TO
: Assistant Site Director / Site Director /Director of Operations/ Chief Executive OfficerPRIMARY FUNCTION
Working closely with the Site Director, you will learn how to become an integral person in improving the lives of the Boys and Girls Club members. As a YDL you will be taught how to conduct programs for members in K through 12th grade and improve their lives through the Boys and Girls Club Formula for Impact. As you learn to affect positive change in our members' lives, you will be encouraged to bring your own passions, skills, and interests into our programming to share with our members by creating programs under the supervision of the Site Director. You must be willing to work at various sites/locations/grades as the need arises. Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare youth for success 1. Ensure programs services and activities are focused on a. Preparing youth for success b. Promoting the safety of club members c. The quality of programs at all times 2. Ensure that club members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas and activities and receive instruction and feedback to develop educational skills. 3. Demonstrate leadership to assure positive conduct, safety, and development of others 4. Provide positive role models to the members. 5. Work at various sites/locations/grades Supervision 1. Work closely with Site Director and Assistant Site Director to manage and supervise youth and volunteers. Provide additional and ongoing feedback and support.Health and Safety:

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal:
Maintains close, daily contact with Site Director/ Assistant Site Director, club team members (leaders and volunteers), club members to provide for the successful operation of the club and its mission.External :
Maintains contact with club members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Must be 17 years old or older
- Knowledge of youth development
- Experience working with children in supervisory or teaching roles
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to deal effectively with club members including discipline problems.
- Ability to organize and supervise club members in a safe environment
- Currently pursuing a four year degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Desire to learn about BGCA's mission, youth development, reinforcement, safety, and youth programming
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Fast paced and sometimes loud environment
- Requires time spent outside for activities with club members
- Some lifting of boxes for food pantry and supplies
- Ability to adjust to situations involving change
- Standing or walking for prolonged periods
