Location:
Portland, Oregon, with regular regional travel throughout Oregon and Washington Position Summary The Training Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of Northwest Native Chamber's training and education programs. The position serves as a central point of coordination between participants, instructors, Tribal communities, training providers, NWNC program staff, and external partners to ensure training opportunities are accessible, well-organized, culturally responsive, and connected to workforce and economic development opportunities. The position will initially have a significant focus on NWNC's clean energy and workforce programming, including Home Energy Assessment Training (HEAT), energy efficiency and Building Performance Institute (BPI) training, contractor education, and related workforce activities. The Training Coordinator will also support Native Enterprise cohorts, Tribal-based trainings, workshops, and other educational programming across NWNC. Program assignments will shift over time based on organizational priorities, funding, community needs, and the continued development of NWNC's education and workforce programming. Essential ResponsibilitiesTraining Coordination and Delivery Coordinate training activities from planning through participant completion and follow-up. Maintain training calendars, schedules, registration deadlines, instructor information, locations, certification requirements, and other key program dates. Coordinate logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid trainings, including facilities, instructors, materials, equipment, participant communications, technology, meals, and approved travel needs. Communicate with participants before and throughout training to provide schedules, requirements, reminders, materials, and other information needed for successful participation. Coordinate with external instructors, training providers, certification organizations, consultants, and community partners to support timely and effective delivery. Maintain training checklists, templates, participant materials, and other standard tools to support consistent implementation across programs. Clean Energy and Workforce Training Coordinate participant enrollment and progression through NWNC's clean energy training opportunities, including
HEAT, BPI
certifications, building science, home energy assessment, weatherization, electrification, and other energy-efficiency training. Work with technical training providers to coordinate classes, testing, credentialing, field learning, and related participant requirements. Track training participation, completion, testing, certifications, and additional training needs. Coordinate with workforce, contractor-development, and project staff to connect participants completing training to appropriate next steps, which may include paid work experience, retrofit projects, employment opportunities, mentorship, technical assistance, additional credentials, or business-development services. Assist with identifying gaps or barriers affecting participant completion and communicate those needs to appropriate program staff. Native Enterprise and Business Education Support coordination and delivery of Native Enterprise and other business education programs. Coordinate cohort schedules, instructors, registration, participant communications, classroom or virtual logistics, and training materials. Maintain organized course materials and support instructors and program staff with preparation for cohort delivery. Assist with connecting Native Enterprise participants to technical assistance, APEX, capital-access programs, workforce initiatives, and other appropriate NWNC services. Support workshops and additional educational offerings that complement NWNC's business-development programming. Tribal and Community Training Coordination Support NWNC's delivery of training in partnership with Tribal communities and other regional partners. Serve as a primary staff contact for logistical coordination related to Tribal-based trainings, including scheduling, participant registration, facilities, communications, travel planning, and training needs. Build and maintain respectful working relationships with Tribal staff, community partners, training hosts, and participants. Coordinate with Tribal and community partners to understand local considerations that may affect training participation, scheduling, travel, accessibility, or delivery. Support culturally responsive and relationship-based outreach for NWNC training opportunities. Maintain communication with community partners before and after training to support participant follow-up and identify future training needs. The Training Coordinator supports Tribal relationships associated with program and training delivery. Executive, governmental, and higher-level organizational relationships with Tribal Nations remain the responsibility of NWNC leadership and designated program managers. Participant Support and Follow-Up Support participants from registration through training completion. Coordinate enrollment, orientation, attendance, reminders, completion documentation, testing, and credential tracking. Help participants understand training requirements, timelines, certification processes, and available NWNC resources. Coordinate approved participant supports such as certification fees, training materials, travel assistance, equipment, testing costs, stipends, or other allowable expenses in collaboration with program and finance staff. Identify participants who need more individualized assistance and coordinate referrals to Workforce Navigators, Technical Assistance staff, or other NWNC resources. Conduct routine post-training follow-up to document certification, additional education, work experience, employment, contracting, or other participant outcomes. Curriculum and Education Support Maintain current versions of NWNC training materials, course outlines, presentations, participant resources, assessments, and facilitator materials. Coordinate updates to materials with program managers, instructors, and subject-matter experts. Assist with preparing new workshops, training modules, or educational resources as NWNC programs develop. Support consistent training practices across programs, including registration, participant communications, instructor preparation, evaluations, and closeout. Contribute to the development of an organizational training and education system that can support multiple NWNC programs over time. The Training Coordinator is not expected to independently serve as the technical instructor or subject-matter expert for all training areas. The position coordinates training delivery and works with qualified instructors and program staff responsible for technical content. Data, Evaluation, and Documentation Maintain accurate participant and training records within NWNC systems. Track enrollment, attendance, completion, certifications, participant supports, demographic information, referrals, and post-training outcomes as required. Administer participant evaluations, surveys, pre- and post-training assessments, and other feedback tools. Monitor training activity and identify issues such as enrollment gaps, participant attrition, incomplete certifications, or recurring logistical barriers. Provide accurate and timely program information to managers for grant reporting, evaluation, planning, and program improvement. Maintain complete and organized training documentation consistent with NWNC procedures and funder requirements. Cross-Program Coordination Work collaboratively with Program Managers, Workforce Navigators, Contractor Development staff, Technical Assistance staff, Project Specialists, instructors, and other NWNC employees. Coordinate participant handoffs between training, workforce development, business development, technical assistance, and other NWNC services. Participate in program planning and team meetings and provide updates on training schedules, participant status, completion, and emerging needs. Assist with community events, workshops, outreach activities, and other education-related initiatives as assigned. Support training needs across NWNC programs as organizational priorities and funding evolve. Initial Program Priorities During the initial period of the position, responsibilities are expected to include significant support for: HEAT and related home energy assessment training. BPI and other clean-energy certifications and training pathways. Clean-energy workforce and contractor training. Training delivered in partnership with Tribal communities throughout Oregon and the region. Native Enterprise cohort coordination. Participant registration, attendance, certification, and outcome tracking. Training-provider and instructor coordination. Development of consistent training procedures, calendars, templates, and documentation. Participant transition from training into additional education, workforce opportunities, contracting, or NWNC support services. Assignments may change as existing grants conclude and new education, workforce, and business-development initiatives are developed. Role Scope The Training Coordinator works closely with: Program Managers , who oversee program strategy, budgets, grant performance, partnerships, and staff direction. Workforce Navigators , who provide individualized career navigation, barrier mitigation, and participant support. Instructors and Training Specialists , who provide subject-matter expertise and technical instruction. Contractor Development and Technical Assistance staff , who provide individualized business-development services. Project Specialists , who coordinate technical project and field implementation. Minimum Qualifications Two or more years of experience supporting training, education, workforce development, community programming, cohort-based programs, event coordination, or related work. Equivalent combinations of professional experience, education, training, and lived experience will be considered. Demonstrated ability to organize multiple schedules, participants, partners, deadlines, and program activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, documentation, and follow-through. Experience building respectful relationships with participants, community organizations, and external partners. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities. Comfort using spreadsheets, databases, shared project-management tools, virtual meeting platforms, and other common program technology. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Oregon and Washington, including rural and Tribal communities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Native American communities, Tribal Nations, Native-led organizations, or culturally specific organizations. Experience coordinating workforce development, adult education, professional training, business education, or career and technical education. Experience supporting professional certifications, credentialing, testing, or continuing education. Familiarity with clean energy, energy efficiency, construction, contractor development, or workforce programming. Experience with Native entrepreneurship, small-business development, or cohort-based business education. Experience supporting grant-funded programs and maintaining participant records or deliverable documentation. Experience collecting participant feedback or supporting training evaluation and continuous improvement. Over time, the position should contribute to a more coordinated organizational approach to education and training, allowing NWNC to connect participants more intentionally from learning and credential attainment into workforce, business-development, and economic opportunities.
