This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable facilitating workshops and trainings for youth ages 14-24.

3 months (with potential for an extension or conversion to a full-time role based on performance and organizational needs) About MIMS Mentoring in Medicine & Science (MIMS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented health professionals through mentorship, leadership development, and career exposure. Position Overview The Program Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring MIMS programs run smoothly and effectively. This position focuses on coordinating logistics, supporting participants, and facilitating workshops and health-related trainings . The role works closely with the Program Manager and other team members to implement high-quality, engaging programming. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination & Logistics Coordinate and execute day-to-day program activities, ensuring all logistics are organized and run smoothly Manage program calendars, schedules, and communications with participants, staff, and partners Arrange logistics for workshops, guest speakers, and field trips, including confirmations, materials, and day-of support Support the development and updating of workshop content and training materials Ensure materials are up to date and aligned with program goals Coordinate scheduling and communication with school sites and community partners Support logistics for partner engagement and collaborative activities Provide coordination and administrative support to the Alumni Advisory Board Workshop Facilitation & Training Facilitate and co-facilitate workshops, trainings, and certification courses (e.g., CPR, Mental Health First Aid) Create a supportive and engaging learning environment for diverse groups of students Prepare materials and ensure readiness for all training sessions Adapt facilitation style to meet the needs of different audiences and learning styles Participant Recruitment, Engagement, and Support Support outreach and recruitment efforts for high school and college programs Track applications, enrollment, attendance, and participation data Maintain regular communication with participants and provide timely support as questions or needs arise Serve as a consistent point of contact for program participants Provide basic advising, encouragement, and referrals to additional resources as needed Monitor participant engagement and flag any concerns to the Program Manager Data Tracking & Program Evaluation Administer surveys and collect participant feedback Maintain accurate program records, including attendance and outcomes Support the preparation of reports by organizing data and documentation Qualifications This is an early- to mid-career role ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on coordination and working directly with youth. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience) 1-3 years of experience in program coordination, administrative support, education, or a related field Experience supporting programs, events, or youth initiatives with strong attention to detail and follow-through Demonstrated interest in youth development, health careers, or advancing equity in the health workforce Experience working with high school or college-aged students Experience with tools such as Google Workspace, spreadsheets, or CRM systems Experience supporting trainings, workshops, or events Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow established processes while staying flexible in a fast-paced environment Comfortable taking direction, asking questions, and working both independently and as part of a team High level of reliability, responsiveness, and attention to detail Preferred (but not required) Familiarity with data tracking, surveys, or basic program evaluation Access to reliable transportation for occasional travel to school or partner sites Location & Schedule Based in Oakland, CA Hybrid schedule: 4 days in-office, 1 day remote Frequent travel to school and partner sites requiredJob Type:
