YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS WANTED!
We're looking for 4 energetic, dependable adults who genuinely enjoy being around kids! If your idea of a great afternoon involves games, laughter, creativity, organized chaos, high-fives, and helping young people become their best selves, we may have a spot for you. If your idea of working with children is sitting behind a desk scrolling on your phone while the kids entertain themselves… this probably isn't the job for you.
THE POSITION
This is a structured program with a purpose—but that doesn't mean it has to be boring! Our YDPs help create a safe, positive, engaging environment where young people can complete homework, participate in enrichment activities, build relationships, develop life skills, and, yes… have some fun along the way. We currently have 4 positions available: Kindergarten YDP
- Lead and engage our youngest Club members. 2nd Grade YDP
- Keep our second graders learning, moving, creating, and participating. 4th/5th Grade YDP
- Work with our combined 4th & 5th grade group and keep up with their growing personalities, interests, and energy! Floater YDP
- Our program's professional superhero!
Jump in wherever you're needed, provide coverage, assist classrooms, support activities, and help keep the afternoon running smoothly.
SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday | 1:45 PM-6:00 PM Occasional staff meetings and special events may require additional attendance.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want people who are: Energetic and enthusiastic Patient, dependable, and responsible Comfortable giving directions and setting appropriate boundaries Creative and willing to participate in activities Able to keep children engaged and on task Positive, encouraging, and willing to get involved Comfortable working as part of a team Ready to move, play, teach, encourage, redirect, laugh, and occasionally wonder how one child managed to get glitter absolutely everywhere. You don't have to be the loudest person in the room. You do need to be present, engaged, attentive, and willing to interact with the kids.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY INVOLVES
Our YDPs are responsible for more than simply supervising children. You will help facilitate structured daily programming , including homework assistance, Power Hour, enrichment activities, recreation, character development, group activities, transitions, and other Club programming. You will build relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate expectations and boundaries.
You will also:
Supervise and ensure the safety of Club members Lead and participate in activities Encourage positive behavior and teamwork Help students complete homework and academic activities Maintain an organized and welcoming classroom environment Follow daily schedules and Club policies Communicate with fellow staff members Attend occasional staff meetings and Club events Be an active participant—not a spectator
A QUICK REALITY CHECK
This is not a "sit in a chair and watch the kids" position. It is also not a "let the kids do whatever they want" position. Our young people deserve adults who are present, engaged, consistent, and interested in them. You will be expected to put your phone away, get involved, and be part of the action.
WHY WORK WITH US?
Because the work matters. You get the opportunity to be the adult who helps a child finally understand their homework… encourages a student who is having a difficult day… discovers a talent they didn't know they had… or simply becomes someone a young person looks forward to seeing every afternoon. It's structured programming. It's responsibility. It's sometimes loud. It's occasionally messy. It's definitely not boring. And it can be incredibly rewarding.
