Job Summary Hiring Range:
$55,764.80 - $70,827.12/Year. It is anticipated the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications. Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will cover a broad range of functions including but not limited to, providing training and administrative support and assisting in coordinating all facets of PCCA Safety initiatives, while providing support to the Safety Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs complex administrative tasks and provides administrative support to the Safety Manager in a professional and confidential manner, maintaining the integrity of the PCCA Prepares complex documents including presentations and special reports for submission to PCCA commissioners, employees, tenants and customers Promotes safety awareness through coordination of various forms of communications (i.e. agendas, meeting minutes, newsletters, reports) Assists Safety Manager in communicating with officials, contractors and customers; assists with establishing and maintaining a network with Port Industry to assure effective communication and relations Relays complex instructions and information to other PCCA personnel in the absence of the Safety Manager Assists in coordinating safety activities associated with the PCCA (i.e. EMS) program as directed Researches, reports, tracks, files, follows-up and performs other administrative tasks regarding near-misses, incidents, injuries, and workers compensation as directed Maintains accurate, complete records and other administrative requirements regarding safety training (i.e. equipment, policy/procedure) as directed Initiates, completes, tracks and files requisitions and purchase orders for all safety related purchases (i.e. training, supplies, PPE, etc.) as directed Prepares travel arrangements, expense reports and associated documentation for the Safety Manager Composes letters, e-mails and memorandums in final form. Types, edits and proofs all communications and other materials as directed Answers and fields incoming telephone calls as necessary, opens and distributes incoming mail and maintains general office files CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment Tier 2 status designation Performs related duties as assigned
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA.
They must possess the following:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
High school diploma or equivalent Two years of formal safety education from an accredited college or university preferred Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment Valid drivers license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
Minimum three years experience in the type of duties outlined above or acceptable equivalent experience Experience in safety practices and procedures
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency with a computer and MS Word, Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, email systems and the internet Coordinates or conducts CPR/AED/Annual Safety Training (Classroom and Hands-on) Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders Ability to work in a general office environment, and on a work site with exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and /or air particulates, working in high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels and working at heights, ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
