$55,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience Position Summary We are looking for an Operational Excellence Training Leader who can build the system from the ground up - creating the processes, standards, tools, and internal trainer network needed to develop employees and maintain consistent, high-quality performance as our company continues to grow. The foundation of our training system will be Training Within Industry (TWI), particularly Job Instruction (JI), combined with Lean and Operational Excellence principles. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing professional who enjoys working on the production floor, developing people, and creating systems that make organizations better. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a standardized, scalable manufacturing training system based on TWI principles.
  • Establish processes for identifying training needs, developing training materials, training employees, verifying competency, and maintaining qualifications.
  • Develop training matrices and help improve skills matrices.
  • Create standards for Job Breakdown Sheets, training materials, qualification, retraining, and training records.
  • Integrate training with our
Quality Systems:
Documentation, and Continuous Improvement, etc.
  • Refine a process for incorporating training whenever new equipment, products, processes, or procedures are introduced.
  • Build and maintain a network of qualified internal trainers.
  • Train and coach supervisors, team leaders, and verified trainers in effective TWI training methods.
  • Help establish a culture where production leaders are responsible for developing the people on their teams.
  • Utilize TWI Job Instruction principles to create consistent and effective employee training.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement teams to establish effective Standard Work.
  • Use Lean and Operational Excellence principles to identify and eliminate training-related sources of quality, safety, and productivity problems.
  • Support implementation of additional TWI methodologies such as Job Relations, Job Methods, and Job Safety as appropriate.
  • Establish meaningful training KPIs and leading metrics.
  • Monitor training completion, qualification, skill coverage, and trainer effectiveness.
  • Audit the effectiveness of the training system and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Use quality, safety, productivity, and employee performance data to identify training gaps.
  • Continuously improve the training system as the organization grows. Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, Lean, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, training, or a related field.
  • Manufacturing floor experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and implement systems and processes.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both production employees and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous-improvement mindset. Preferred Qualifications
  • TWI Job Instruction (JI) Train-the-Trainer certification.
  • Experience with multiple TWI disciplines such as Job Instruction, Job Relations, Job Methods, or Job Safety.
  • Lean or Operational Excellence certification/training.
  • Experience developing internal trainers or a train-the-trainer program.
  • Experience developing manufacturing training or skills matrices.
  • Experience with standardized work and process documentation.
  • Experience supporting new equipment, automation, or process implementation.
