Job Description Position Purpose, Duties, and Responsibilities:

The Instructional Technician for Industrial Trades and Diesel Technology provides hands-on instructional support, laboratory oversight, and technical assistance in classrooms and training facilities. This role collaborates with instructors to enhance student learning by ensuring equipment functionality, maintaining safety protocols, and offering guidance in practical applications. This position is a temporary, part-time non-benefited position scheduled to work 15 hours per week. Hours would be during scheduled class days and times, which are subject to change each quarter, depending on class schedules. Typical classes are Monday through Thursday, 8am to 3pm. Position will end June 30, 2027. Qualifications Six months to two years of full-time experience/training in the appropriate discipline OR Equivalent education/experience. Experience working with diesel engines, industrial machinery, or mechanical systems. Strong knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations. Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment relevant to industrial trades. Effective communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with instructors, students, and staff. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or certification in Industrial Trades, Diesel Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Teaching or training experience in a technical or vocational setting. Familiarity with instructional technology and online learning platforms. ASE certification or other industry-recognized credentials. Physical Requirements This position involves working in classroom, laboratory, and shop environments, requiring the use of safety equipment and adherence to workplace safety guidelines. Occasional lifting, standing for extended periods, and exposure to industrial noise may be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Conditions of Employment Hourly employees who qualify (work 350 hours in 12 consecutive months) are represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).
