Job Description
Beacon Development Group is seeking a Housing Development Intern to support our project management and housing development team. Working under the supervision of the WA Development Director and VP of Real Estate, the intern will collaborate with project managers and gain exposure to multiple stages of the affordable housing development process. Beacon Development Group works with nonprofit organizations and housing authorities to facilitate the funding, design, and construction of affordable housing developments from financing through project completion. This 9-month, part-time internship is designed to provide hands-on professional experience in the affordable housing industry while supporting projects that help create and preserve affordable communities.
Schedule:
Part-Time, Internship only Monday - Friday, approximately 12 hours per week This is a 9-month temporary internship only.Pay:
$25.00 an hourLocation:
Onsite, Washington To be successful in this role, you would have: Currently enrolled in college or graduate school Some prior employment/internship history/experience is preferred; Demonstrated excellent writing abilities. Experience writing copy, preferred; Demonstrated excellent research abilities. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point; Demonstrated experience working as a team member; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize required; Experience working in diverse groups; Commitment to the mission and goals of the organization. A day in the life may include: Provides Assistance in Project Development Assists project managers in researching and compiling data on specific projects, low-income communities, and locations; Gain understanding of the finance structures and funding sources used in affordable housing development; Learn the basic financial models used in project development; Attends site and team meetings as needed; Compiles information for clients and project managers in funding applications to the State of Washington and City of Seattle; Participates in site feasibility meetings and discussions; Assist with finance closings; Conducts extensive internet research; Assists in archiving of project files; Provides additional support to developers as directed. Attend meetings with senior leadership to broaden understanding of the affordable housing sector and the mission of Beacon Development Group.
