Job Description
Position Overview Public Allies is a 10-month, full-time apprenticeship program focused on developing the next generation of leaders in the nonprofit and civic sectors. Allies serve alongside local nonprofits and government agencies to strengthen community impact through capacity-building projects, leadership development, and community engagement. This is not a traditional job, it is a hands-on leadership experience designed for emerging leaders who are passionate about creating meaningful change in their communities while building professional skills and career pathways. What Allies Do Allies serve four days per week at a nonprofit organization or government office, supporting projects that strengthen organizational capacity and community impact.
Responsibilities may include:
Supporting program development and enhancement Assisting with community outreach and engagement Building technology and operational capacity Coordinating volunteers and community partnerships Supporting youth development, education, public health, economic development, environmental, and other community-focused initiatives Participating in team service projects and collaborative community work On Fridays, Allies participate in a structured leadership development program where they build skills in areas such as: Systems thinking Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Project management Leadership and teamwork Communication and professional development Community organizing and civic engagement Allies also receive individualized coaching and professional development support throughout the program year.
