Pet Care Specialist - Dog Daycare & Boarding The Ark Pet Spa & Hotel Do you love animals and want a hands-on job where you can make a difference in their day? The Ark Pet Spa & Hotel is looking for dependable, compassionate Pet Care Specialists to join our team. Pet Care Specialists provide safe, attentive daily care for dogs and cats staying with us for daycare, boarding, and other services while helping maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-run environment. This is an active, hands-on role that is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with animals, takes safety seriously, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable with the hands-on nature of animal care, including cleaning and sanitation.

Schedules vary based on business needs. Weekend and holiday availability may be required. What You'll Do Provide Safe, Compassionate Pet Care Monitor pets throughout their stay for comfort, behavior, and overall well-being. Provide attentive care and monitoring in daycare, playgroup, boarding, and activity areas according to established procedures and management direction. Provide exercise, enrichment, personal playtime, potty walks, and companionship based on each pet's care plan. Prepare meals, refresh water, and follow individual feeding and care instructions. Accurately document feeding, activities, behavior, and other important observations. Promptly report any changes in a pet's behavior, comfort, well-being, or safety to a supervisor or manager. Support Guest Movement & Client Experience Safely move dogs and cats throughout the facility for daycare, boarding, grooming, activities, check-in, and check-out. Assist with guest belongings, report cards, activity updates, photos, and client updates as assigned. Work collaboratively with other departments and support teammates when needed. Follow established animal-handling, playgroup, sanitation, and safety procedures. Maintain a Clean & Safe Facility Keeping our facility clean is an important part of keeping pets safe and comfortable.
Responsibilities include:
Cleaning and sanitizing guest rooms, play areas, yards, potty areas, dishes, toys, equipment, and common spaces. Completing laundry and dishwashing. Cleaning up and properly disposing of pet waste. Restocking supplies and notifying leadership of shortages. Reporting maintenance, facility, or safety concerns promptly. Following approved cleaning, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Comfortable working hands-on with dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and needs. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal care instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines. Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with team members, clients, and leadership. Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized in a busy environment. Dependability and the ability to work scheduled shifts consistently. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company scheduling, reservation, and pet-care software. Preferred Previous experience in animal care, pet resorts, veterinary settings, grooming, daycare/boarding, hospitality, retail, or customer service. Pet CPR/First Aid training or other animal-safety training is a plus. Physical Requirements & Work Environment With or without reasonable accommodation, this position may require: Standing and walking for much of the shift. Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and leash handling. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling supplies, equipment, and animals, generally up to 50 pounds individually, with assistance used for heavier animals or items. Cleaning, disinfecting, laundry, dishwashing, and pet-waste removal. Working around dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments. Exposure to animal noise, hair and dander, odors, pet waste, cleaning products, wet or slippery surfaces, and indoor/outdoor temperature changes. Why The Ark?
