Job Description

Dog Walker - Behavior Specialist Sniff and Go LLC San Francisco, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $27 - $29 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Paid training Mileage reimbursement On-the-job training Referral program Paid sick time Qualifications Customer communication Attention to detail Driving Dog walking CPDT-KA Certification Full Job Description The opportunity Sniff and Go is San Francisco's premier private dog walking company, in business since 2009.
We do one thing:
individualized, force-free, on-leash walks for single-family homes. No group walks, no punishment, no shortcuts. We are a strictly positive reinforcement business, and every walk reflects that approach. We're a tight-knit team of under 15, and we've earned Best Dog Walkers in the Bay (48th Annual Best of the Bay Awards). We're looking for an experienced walker with strong behavioral instincts to fill a specialized role: covering for teammates, building efficient walking routes, and supporting daily operations, sometimes stepping into a walk with a dog you haven't met before. Pay and Compensation $27-29/hour based on experience If you're a certified dog trainer, we'd welcome the conversation about incorporating training sessions into your role, with compensation structured separately for that work Mileage reimbursed at the full IRS rate ($0.76/mile), parking meter reimbursement, paid travel time Tips (pooled), typically averaging an additional $2-3/hour Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm 6 guaranteed paid hours per day, with opportunity for additional hours as needed No nights, no weekends, no holidays Time Off Attendance is important to us, so we keep time off structured and predictable for everyone. Here's how it works: 2.5 weeks of unpaid holiday closures each year (all major holidays except Juneteenth and Veterans Day, plus a full week covering December 25) Up to 15 Scheduled Time Off days (unpaid) per rolling 12 month period Option to earn up to 5 additional Scheduled Time Off days through our Coverage Assist Program Total of up to 5.5-6.5 weeks off per year Time off approved based on calendar of availability Scheduled Time Off, holiday closures, and Coverage Assist days are separate from and do not include California's legally protected Paid Sick Leave (PSL). PSL is provided independently and in accordance with state law. What You'll Do Each Day Provide walking coverage for call-outs and scheduled time off, including dogs you haven't personally walked before Read canine body language quickly and make safe, confident decisions in unfamiliar situations Practice and apply positive reinforcement on every walk Build and adjust walking routes to minimize coverage gaps Support scheduling coordination, client communication, and day-to-day logistics What We're Looking For Significant hands-on dog walking experience, ideally including reactive or behaviorally complex dogs Strong ability to read body language and step confidently into unfamiliar situations Committed to force-free, positive reinforcement methods, no exceptions Comfortable with a variable daily schedule rather than a fixed route Reliable, detail-oriented, and equally comfortable in the field and handling light operational tasks CPDT-KA certification or equivalent a plus, not required Physical Demands and Requirements Ability to walk 3-5+ miles per day on hills, stairs, uneven terrain and in inclement weather Ability to lift up to 30 lbs Reliable, insured vehicle required, used daily to travel between client homes Comfortable being photographed for client updates and social media Must be 18+ Employment details At-will employment. 90-day probation period. Ready to apply? If you're 18+, have a reliable vehicle, and want a job where you can build real skills and earn competitive pay doing work that matters, we'd love to hear from you.
