Job Description

DOG WALKERS & PET SITTERS NEEDED
- Peninsula Bay Area Pet Pals is hiring dependable Dog Walkers & Pet Sitters! We are currently building new routes between Burlingame and Palo Alto and can usually tailor routes to keep you working close to your preferred area. We are receiving more requests from new clients than our current team can accommodate, so we're looking for a few great people to join us!
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING
We want to be completely upfront about how this position starts. When you first join us, you may begin with only a few visits per week — and there may even be very little work during the first few weeks while we begin building your route. As new clients come in within your service area, we add them to your schedule and work toward building you a regular, consistent route. It can take several weeks or sometimes a few months to build a fuller route to tailor to your comfort level. Because pet care depends on client needs, the amount of work and income can fluctuate in general. If you need a guaranteed number of hours immediately, this probably isn't the right position. If you're looking for long-term, part-time work and are comfortable allowing us time to build your route, we'd love to hear from you. PAY This is a paid-per-visit employee position . Our employees typically earn approximately $500-$2,500 per month working part-time , depending on their availability, established route, and client demand. Individual jobs generally pay approximately $20-$38+ per visit , depending on the type and length of the visit.
We also offer:
Higher pay for major holiday visits Two generous bonuses per year Paid training Pet CPR & First Aid certification Workers' compensation Liability insurance and bonding Optional CalSavers Roth
IRA ABOUT THE JOB
You'll provide dog walks and in-home pet care for our clients throughout the Peninsula.
We serve:
Burlingame
  • San Mateo
  • Foster City
  • Belmont
  • San Carlos
  • Redwood City
  • Atherton
  • Menlo Park
  • Palo Alto We try to create routes that keep employees working within a convenient geographic area to minimize unnecessary driving.
Routes may include dogs of all breeds and sizes (can tailor to your comfort level) , as well as cats and other pets. Most weekday dog walks and pet visits take place some time between approximately 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work may also be available for those who want it.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Reliability is #1. Our clients and their pets depend on us, so we need people who take their commitments seriously.
You should:
Be extremely reliable and responsible Truly love animals Enjoy being outdoors and staying active Be comfortable walking and handling dogs of different sizes Live in or near one of our service areas Be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Be able to pass a background check Have your own reliable vehicle Have a valid driver's license and auto insurance Have a smartphone with data for scheduling, navigation, photos, and client updates Be consistently available Monday-Friday during at least the 10:00 AM-3:00 PM timeframe Be willing to work partial days on some major holidays when needed — you will not be required to work every holiday Be comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions (we do adjust visits for major rain, and high heat) Stay focused on the dogs during walks — safety always comes first Have reliable, consistent weekly availability Be looking for a long-term position Be able to commit to at least one year
THIS POSITION IS NOT A GOOD FIT IF YOU
Are looking for temporary, seasonal, or short-term work Need a guaranteed full schedule immediately Cannot provide consistent weekday availability Are unable to commit for at least one year
WHY WORK WITH BAY AREA PET PALS?
Besides getting paid to spend your days with some pretty amazing dogs and cats, you'll have the opportunity to build real relationships with the same pets and clients each week. You are our employee — not an independent contractor. We provide paid training, workers' compensation, liability insurance and bonding, and Pet CPR & First Aid certification. Most importantly, we appreciate our team. Our walkers and sitters are the front line of our business, and we believe they deserve to be treated with gratitude, appreciation, and respect. Most of our team members have stayed with us for many years.
