Sign-On Bonus and Ramp-Up Guarantee Guaranteed ramp period for your first 60 days while you build your book of clients, so you can settle in without worrying about a slow start What You'll Do Provide full-service grooming, including bathing, brushing, de-shedding, trimming, and breed-standard or owner-requested styling for dogs of all sizes and breeds Handle pets calmly and confidently, using safe, low-stress handling techniques suited to each animal's temperament Perform nail trims, ear cleaning, and other routine grooming care with precision and attention to detail Spot and flag skin, coat, or health concerns to pet owners so small issues don't become big ones Build real relationships with clients, many of whom have been coming here for years and who notice when their stylist remembers their pet's quirks Help onboard new groomers and bathers, showing them how the shop runs and setting them up for success from day one Train and mentor newer groomers on technique, breed cuts, safe handling, and working efficiently Serve as a go-to resource on the floor, answering questions, offering feedback, and helping the team keep quality consistent Keep your station and equipment clean and well-maintained Pitch in as part of a small, collaborative team, because we all help each other out Required Skills 4+ years of professional grooming experience in a salon, mobile, or retail setting Proficiency with clippers, blades, and guard combs, plus scissoring and finishing work Ability to complete breed-standard cuts for common breeds, including doodles, poodles, terriers, and spaniels Skilled at dematting and handling coats in poor condition safely and humanely Confident with nail trims (clipping and grinding), ear cleaning, and sanitary trims Ability to groom dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including seniors, puppies, and anxious dogs Knowledge of skin and coat conditions and when to refer a pet to a vet Ability to manage your time and complete a full day of appointments on schedule What You Bring Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding other groomers or bathers, whether formally or informally, as a lead groomer, senior stylist, or trusted go-to on your team Patience and clear communication when teaching, with the ability to give helpful feedback in a positive way Hand-scissoring and creative styling experience are a plus Confident, gentle animal handling skills, so you can read a nervous dog and adjust A steady, professional presence with clients, with clear communication and genuine care Reliability and pride in your work, because attention to detail matters here Comfort with the physical side of the job, including standing for extended periods and lifting and restraining pets of varying sizes A team-first attitude, since we want people who make the shop a better place to work, not just a place to work Growth and Advancement As a new owner growing the business, we're building out our leadership team, and this role is a key part of it A clear path to expanded responsibilities, such as leading our groomer training program or overseeing grooming quality Support for continuing education, certifications, or grooming competitions Your input matters, so you'll have a real voice in how we train, equip, and run the shop Why Ken Caryl Pet Spa Established reputation, fresh investment: 20 years of loyal Littleton clients, plus new equipment and upgrades underway A stable, tenured team: you'll work alongside stylists who've built real expertise here over a decade No drama, real support: hands-on ownership that's present, reasonable, and easy to work with Room to grow: as we grow the business, we want to grow our people with it
