This position requires a positive attitude and drive to improve the lives of companion animals. The Animal Care Team - Cat Assistant is responsible for daily cat enrichment and shelter cleaning. This position provides hands-on care for all shelter cats and other duties as assigned, including assistance in dog areas as needed. This position reports to the AWT Manager. The Cat Assistant position is a hybrid role consisting of mostly cat duties but also may be asked to assist with dog walking, dog kennel cleaning, and other duties as assigned. Is a representative of the Longmont Humane Society, presenting a positive, friendly, and welcoming environment to all visitors. Performs daily enrichment for all shelter cats and promotes a positive environment. Performs a variety of tasks, including daily kennel cleaning, feeding, and exercising. Must have ability to administer vaccines to cats. Maintains general building cleanliness inside and out. Assists Animal Care Team staff with daily priorities in cat sections, and dog sections as needed. Performs care duties for the cats in the Shelter Clinic receiving medical care. Performs closing duties in all cat sections. Good attendance is required. Ability to share duties with colleagues. Enthusiastic, dedicated team player. Ability to respectfully communicate with other team members. Must be available to work weekends. Animal shelter environment. Potential exposure to high noise levels and zoonotic diseases. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Indoor and outdoor working environments. Frequent use of scrubbing tools resulting in repeated scrubbing motions. Exposure to wet floors. Some use of computers and telephones, and handheld two-way radios.

Pay:

$17.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
