Job Description

Part Time Kennel Attendant The Town of Stratford is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-time Kennel Attendant. The focus of this position is the care of animals and facility cleanliness. The position is between 10-19.5 hours weekly from 9am-1pm with a schedule provided monthly. Position Description Working under the general supervision of the Animal Control Officer, the Kennel Attendant is responsible for, but not limited to, handling, feeding, medicating and watering impounded animals. This position also involves cleaning and disinfecting dog kennels and cat cages; washing laundry and dishes; organizing donations and supplies; as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the food prep and storage areas of the animal shelter. Applicant must be able to maintain the comfort of the impounded animals.
General Description of Duties:
  • Feed and provide fresh water to shelter animals according to established protocols.
  • Clean and disinfect dog kennels, cat cages, litter boxes, dishes, bedding, and shelter equipment.
  • Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report concerns to Animal Care and Control Officers.
  • Wash laundry, clean food preparation areas, stock supplies, organize donations, and perform general housekeeping.
  • Safely handle friendly animals and follow all shelter safety and disease-control procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Animal care experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to life up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks, including standing, bending, lifting and cleaning.
  • Must be comfortable working around animals, cleaning chemicals, and varying environmental conditions.
